New opportunities for Watershed modeling

The Computing for Sustainable Water Project is a large-scale simulation model looking into water quality issues in the U.S. Chesapeake Bay Watershed.

A companion project is a playable game version -- the UVa Bay Game -- where players take on roles of farmers, land developers, policy-makers, etc. The simulation model in the game version is quite simple.

The UVa Bay Game is now generalized to "Global Water Games" where we can develop game-versions to explore not only water quality but also water quantity issues, virtually anywhere in the world (with GIS).

We are now planning to develop such playable games (and perhaps more detailed sims for WCG) in U.S.: Texas (Guadalupe-San Antonio) and the Lower Mississippi, and possibly in the Upper Mekong in China.

We'll keep you posted if and when we deploy these.
