The Computing for Sustainable Water Project is a large-scale simulation model looking into water quality issues in the U.S. Chesapeake Bay Watershed.
A companion project is a playable game version -- the UVa Bay Game -- where players take on roles of farmers, land developers, policy-makers, etc. The simulation model in the game version is quite simple. The UVa Bay Game is now generalized to "Global Water Games" where we can develop game-versions to explore not only water quality but also water quantity issues, virtually anywhere in the world (with GIS). www.virginia.edu/baygame/global-water-games We are now planning to develop such playable games (and perhaps more detailed sims for WCG) in U.S.: Texas (Guadalupe-San Antonio) and the Lower Mississippi, and possibly in the Upper Mekong in China. We'll keep you posted if and when we deploy these. |
