Re: GPU for Medical Reaserach (NOT NVIDIA)

Poem is NOT sending out any GPU WUs.....lready tried that!

Yes, they are, but they're limiting them because they can process only so much.

They also seem to giving preferencial treatment to crunchers in their home country.

In that case it is not a project worth supporting - very selfish!

In an indirect way, you could support GPUGrid by running Donate@home. I know it isn't quite the same, but it is still supporting. Attach to POEM to gobble what you can and do Donate in between.

Well, with 12k in progress it seems the ocassional wu does trickle out, but demand exceeds the supply...

This basically means until WCG or someone else releases a new GPU-project, or FAH finally manages to release a new GPU-application, the only health-related GPU-work will be the ocassional POEM-wu.

sad Re: GPU for Medical Reaserach (NOT NVIDIA)

Reminds me of all the prodding and pushing and incredulousness of how backward WCG was coming to the GPU name of the game. Few health/environment sciences have made it to that fast track world appears from this discussion. WCG is ready to any research team that proposes a GPU based science and lasting N months.

Re: GPU for Medical Reaserach (NOT NVIDIA)

but donate@home is just bitcoin crunching. no REAL value for science

it is cheaper just donate money, rather pay bills to electricity companies

Re: GPU for Medical Reaserach (NOT NVIDIA)

It also does testing of apps for GPUGrid. I'm not crunching the efficiency numbers. I'm just giving options. If GPUGrid ever got an AMD platform, it will more then likely be tested there first.

Edit: Here is the link if you don't believe me: http://donateathome.org/forum_thread.php?id=13#33
