My results returned are following the same strange pattern as total results returned. 5 days ago I had a big spike in results. I got 294 when I usually get around 200. I than got 2 days of around 175 followed by 106 yesterday and only 55 for this morning. The same thing is happening with total results returned as there was a big spike 5 days ago and yesterday was poor. I would think that someone at WCG would see this pattern and would give the members a reason for it. We are investing both money and effort in this project and we deserve answers when there is an obvious problem.

Assuming the spike was dated May 2 preceded by a trough dated May 1 the answer is here: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,35074 posted 3 days before you noticed an obvious problem.
----------------------------------------If you're crunching HCC subsequent low levels of valid results are probably due to increased user cache levels. |

It has not been resolved. Just look at the stats they are still down around 60% from a week ago. That includes today which started out at less than a half of a million results instead of being close to 800,000. The members spend a lot of time and effort and deserve an explanation when the results of our efforts decline by 60% or more.

Rick, sorry but you need a serious wakeup call. HCC is finishing. No more 1.2 million results, just for that science.

This is exactly what I am talking about. Are you saying that all the gpu work units for hcc are finished? I need to know this since I need to change what projects I will accept if this is true. I just looked at the two computers that have a working gpu and found them without any work units. I than went to change my profile for each of those computers. This is not a game for me and I need to know the facts to keep my computers doing the maximum they are capable of doing. Would it hurt to have a message in members news so members are informed? I noticed immediately that there were no gpu units working since there was no lag in the display. I have not used these two computers since October of last year because of the severe lag in the display. You are dealing with volunteers so I wish you could show us a little bit of respect.

Hi Rick,
----------------------------------------This is the info from May 1st http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,35068_offset,0 to inform members about an end of HCC1. What kind of additional "message in members news so members are informed" do you have in mind? Cheers ![]() Crunching@Home since January 13 2000. Shrubbing@Home since January 5 2006 ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by branjo at May 7, 2013 10:41:41 PM] |

The same message that was in the hcc forum but in the members news forum. When I open the manger program I go to notices so it would have been nice if the message was a notice too. We do not get messages or notices every day so it is easy to forget to look for them so it would be nice when a change that is very significant was placed in numerous places to get one to notice it. I changed my profile to not accept any project except hcc. I did this because I was getting a lot of projects other than hcc. They would than take a lot of time to complete so I decided it was better to wait for hcc units. I bet there are a lot more members that have done the same.

We don't typically announce that a project is wrapping up in Member News but have sometimes emailed members once a project has completed (so they can switch over to other projects).
But we are starting to think about our communication strategy overall: what to notify members of and how to communicate that information. So your feedback comes at a good time and we'll be taking this into account. PS. there has been a similar discussion here . |

Here is a message I received just a little while ago.

It is a 4 core computer so that is a average of over 13 hours a result. In the last 4 days this computer has had only 3 days of cpu time out of a possible 16 days. Something is not right here. I just wish someone would report the problem to the members. |

There are only a handful of WU's that being returned to the server.
