ca-bundle too old?

my certificate is guilty only from
07/14/1999 to 07/11/2009

Therefore (?) Kaspersky prevents up/down-loading (only since some days)

Is that so? Must i re-install boinc?

Franz

(sorry about my german/school english)

Re: ca-bundle too old?

No, the ca-bundle file contains many certificates, some going to 2035 and after, thus no reinstall required, assuming you've got a not too old BOINC release, 5.10.45 and up certainly good to go. Kaspersky is the problem I'd think.

Re: ca-bundle too old?

I have double-clicked the file "ca-bundle". It wanted me to install a certificate.

I wanted to install the certificate, but I was told it is too old. I also cannot see more than one certificate...

Thanks for your answer
Franz

Re: ca-bundle too old?

May it happen, that boinc itself ist updating automatically ("about ..." says 6.xx) but the certificate still is from my first installation ?

Re: ca-bundle too old?

Would expect that any file included in the installer will overwrite the old [with a few exceptions], but anyway the file is called ca-bundle, because it is... a bundle. Open it into wordpad [and make sure not to save it on exit]. Browse the file, where the second cert. says:
Certificate Ingredients:
Data:
Version: 3 (0x2)
Serial Number: 913220207 (0x366ea26f)
Signature Algorithm: sha1WithRSAEncryption
Issuer: C=US, O=Digital Signature Trust Co., OU=DST (ANX Network) CA
Validity
Not Before: Dec 9 15:46:48 1998 GMT
Not After : Dec 9 16:16:48 2018 GMT
Subject: C=US, O=Digital Signature Trust Co., OU=DST (ANX Network) CA
Subject Public Key Info:
Public Key Algorithm: rsaEncryption
RSA Public Key: (1024 bit)
Modulus (1024 bit):

If the file certificates were expired, we'd be inundated with messages on the forum, but we're not. If expired, BOINC will actually log an entry to tell you. You can simulate that by setting your computer back to for instance 1997 or forward to 2040, though not recommended as this will upset the client statistics, and the timer counters... computing will stop for the time you set the date back.

To add, here is the FAQ discussing the situation of a wrong date and the certificate expiration warning: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=15682

Re: ca-bundle too old?

Kaspersky did the problem. By chance I found an easy-to-do solution.
(German only ... Sorry)

Kaspersky Internet Security 2013
Einstellungen
Erweiterte Einstellungen
Einstellungen verwalten
Wiederherstellen
Weiter
(alles markieren)
Weiter
Meldung -> "Die Wiederherstellung wurde abgeschlossen"

WCG is now working perfect again (reporting, requesting, uploading results. Project update ...)
