No disrespect intended, Rillian, but I hope that future challenges like this are announced with a later date than just a few days away. The WCG is certainly not a 'set it and forget it' type of distributed computing project. Which brings up an excellent chance to have WCG fix a very simple thing. As most of you Co-Captains, Head Cheerleaders, stats keeper, it is a *major* pain to go to the Challenges area and see all those challenges and then click one by one each challenge!
---------------------------------------- You know how long that takes? I can get to work quicker than that! Yes, a simple toggle button where you can click for all of them at the same time and it would give you the option to de-select some of these challenges (like the every 3 days ones, etc. Anyways, we are in this Challenge! Johnny Cool , same here every month, i just CTRL+click on the 5 challenges, then refresh page, and then close all the challenge tabs
----------------------------------------Pentathlon announced the project just 3 days ago http://www.seti-germany.de/blog/category/boinc-pentathlon/ and this was done for purpose to avoid mega flushes of completed tasks PS: pentathlon itself was announced a month ago on our team forum by SETI.Germany managers... Not much noise made, but sure as heck will 'cleanenergy' know this competition is ongoing. Some comparative data for the 7th through the 11th, by day:
Date Years - PriorWk - Gain Contribution increase 67%. Far out! If this was a project choice with warped sense of humor [one comment made elsewhere], think the silence in problem reporting speaks volumes). A bigger impact on any science at WCG could not have been made. Crunch On. |
