Re: Temporary slow down for Say No to Schistosoma

I've just noticed that currently, the message stating that there's no SN2S WU's available on the message log, isn't appearing. Does this indicate that more WU's are imminent?

Re: Temporary slow down for Say No to Schistosoma

Hi gb009761,
There aren't any SN2S work units in the system. I suspect any messages you are getting from SN2S have not changed for some time.

Re: Temporary slow down for Say No to Schistosoma

laurencehardin, the message that I'm now not seeing, is
Message from server: No tasks are available for Say No to Schistosoma
This stopped at around 14:52 UTC on the 9th of October 2013. Thus, my guess that "something had changed".

Re: Temporary slow down for Say No to Schistosoma

You might want to share what you now are seeing instead (Takes a whole lot out of us guessing).

NB: When new work does arrive for the present 'intermittent' sciences, you/everyone most likely will see the 'same procedure as last year (Miss Sophie?)'... Some announcement of betas to test if the batch builds/task sizes are good for general circulation, which is the time soon enough to make a profile change, to till then not hit the scheduling server perpetually with work requests for sciences we know ain't there [And CA's know as much on that token as anyone else ;>]

(Seem to remember a fairly recent 'official' comment saying we have outlook of long time/years of work still for SN2S, which is when the testing to bring it to the Android platform may possibly resume... whatever the development priorities are).

Re: Temporary slow down for Say No to Schistosoma

Okay, here's exactly what I'm now seeing
10/10/2013 07:58:39 World Community Grid Requesting new tasks
10/10/2013 07:58:42 World Community Grid Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
10/10/2013 07:58:42 World Community Grid Message from server: No tasks sent
10/10/2013 07:58:42 World Community Grid Message from server: No tasks are available for The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2
10/10/2013 07:58:42 World Community Grid Message from server: No tasks are available for the applications you have selected.

i.e., WITHOUT the line stating that there's no SN2S work (Message from server: No tasks are available for Say No to Schistosoma). This was there yesterday, and stopped appearing at about 14:52 UTC.

Edit: Just to make it clear, I've currently got SN2S & CEP2 selected (I just checked - so as to be sure), as both of these sciences, I've yet to reach Emerald.

I am seeing the same thing. The line is not there anymore. Last time I saw it was 14:30 UTC. Something has changed.

Re: Temporary slow down for Say No to Schistosoma

10/10/2013 07:58:42 World Community Grid Message from server: No tasks are available for the applications you have selected.

Is exactly what I'm seeing when -only- selecting 1 or more intermittent sciences... in the plural. Since there is no work at all, no repairs [the last SN2S passed few days ago], the feeders for these sciences have likely been switched off... SN2S is still listed, and the scientists have not called it a day yet.

When one has selected CEP2 but already has the maximum In Progress, then that will be separately specified, albeit, it would have been nice if it said "already got maximum specified tasks assigned". As the idiosyncratic messaging is known it's fine with me and whatever it would be changed to [improved on] in the unspecified future.

Anyway, it does not bother me... maybe the GPU feeder was asked too... think it tries those every 7-14 days if one keeps the hands off the update button and has that resource idling [not disabled for BOINC].

[Oh and do note that depending on client version and log flags set, you might get different / less expanded messages than others].

shhh

Re: Temporary slow down for Say No to Schistosoma

SekeRob, all I was querying (or rather hoping) on, was as to whether we were any nearer to getting more SN2S WU's - as, something, somewhere, quite clearly changed;
09-Oct-2013 15:52:42 [World Community Grid] Requesting new tasks
09-Oct-2013 15:52:47 [World Community Grid] Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks

09-Oct-2013 15:52:47 [World Community Grid] Message from server: No tasks are available for the applications you have selected.
09-Oct-2013 15:55:53 [World Community Grid] Sending scheduler request: To fetch work.
09-Oct-2013 15:55:53 [World Community Grid] Requesting new tasks
09-Oct-2013 15:55:56 [World Community Grid] Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
09-Oct-2013 15:55:56 [World Community Grid] Message from server: No tasks sent

(as I'm in the UK, the hours in relation to UTC, are +1).

If there's no SN2S WU's in the very near future, then I'm fine with that. I'll just have to wait a bit longer to turn my Ruby badge Emerald. All I was querying on, was as to why this change happened.

Re: Temporary slow down for Say No to Schistosoma

Yes, like everyone else who's 'waiting', we just need to be patient. If the message of "No tasks are available for Say No to Schistosoma" returns, I'm sure you'll be the first to guess the feeder was switched on again ;>)

(And funny as it may sound, were there a server status page, someone would not have correlated that to the client messages, and come to the board to alert the techs to the feeder status change :P).
