Any update on the results?

Hi,

Are there any updates on any scientific results of CFSW?
Can we get an update on exactly where the scientists are, what have they found yet, etc?

It's been a while since the project ended so I think an update is due.

Thanks.

Yeah I agree - personally, I think this project might have been a waste of WCG's resources.

All it did was build a model that'll be summarily ignored. It didn't actually contribute anything.

Well, I hope the model will be useful. I still wish for an update.

Or just an update on when the next progress report is due.

Re: Any update on the results?

results take a while to complete..

the first step is figuring out if they actually got the information they planed to get. then they need to start doing rough sorts
that allows them to figure if they have more questions that didnt get answered and figure if there were some work units that looked good but actually error-ed .. and do those internally.

hopefully there will be more work of another phase in the future or such... but as far as how long it takes to sort through the data it can be a LONG time... sure i would like an update and i hope one comes soon but it just takes time

Re: Any update on the results?

We're getting there! As you might imagine, there is a very large deposit of experiments--over 19 million! We have graduate students unpacking the results in small, coherent batches to perform the analysis. These "pilot" analyses will yield interesting results but also help us plan larger analyses. We have a "Big Data" group now at the University and this project is the "poster child" for large-scale analysis. Results will be available this summer.

Hey guys,
An off-topic question for you:
Where did y'all get those fancy stats badges you have in your signature?
