Infection detected!

Running on MacBook Pro:
*Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)
*avast! Free Antivirus:
-Application Version 7.0 (38501)
-Virus definitions version 13033101
The task is still running.
What is the problem?

99.999... to the infinite% it's a false positive. The science apps come from a secure IBM store. Set exception for the app. Set an exception for the whole BOINC data directory as that area is sandboxed by BOINC itself at that.

BTW, how does a win32:Smadow-E Trj come to even run on OS-X?

Re: Infection detected!

It won't run on OS X, but antivirus programs like Avast and ClamXav still detect Windows-based threats, so the Mac doesn't become a carrier and spread the virus to other vulnerable systems.
