Radeon HD 7850 - Windows XP, SP3. [RESOLVED]

I'm trying to get BOINC, 7.0.28 to recognize my 7850 but haven't been able to get the right combination of software. Windows XP recognizes the card, and it functions correctly outside of the BOINC software. I've tried a variety of drivers starting with 12-1, 12-4, and 13-1 but still getting an error stating "No usable GPUs". I suspect from the articles that I read it may be something to do with the OpenCL support for this card in XP. I'm getting conflicting stories about the ability of Windows XP to work with the 7850 and BOINC. Thanks!

Re: Radeon HD 7850 - Windows XP, SP3.

HI
I have the same card, I run Win 7 64bit. The thing is, I had trouble getting Boinc to recognise the card. The issue was the card type defined in the bios of the machine. I don't know what MB you are running or the options available...

If you are familiar with the bios access and settings, try changing the card type and see how you get on.

IF YOU ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE BIOS DO NOT ATTEMPT IT!!! it could break the system!

There is no OpenCl driver support for any 7xxx series card in XP no matter what you've heard. You'll need to upgrade to at least Vista, which I would not recommend. Go to Win7 if you can.
XP will work with 6xxx series and below but only with driver 12.1 or below.
