kateiacy, thanks for trying. Locutus now properly lists 7.0.58 (Looked yest.noon and was not there yet, not looking at the actual link). Ran apt-get update too but no update offered. then and now. Synaptic continues to list 7.0.56. Will try later today.
Thanks again, and good it fetched the libs for you [had a ia32-libs message on a previous previous Ubuntu nightly some weeks ago, but it said it could not install becausu off...]. Something set it off for you too to go fetch them and succeed which implies this BOINC for Linux is a 32 bit in whole or part? Inexplicable, but at least we have the warning up for the bald spotters. Have mailed Gianfranco to ask the question about (x86) in the about box, and the .56 / .58 mix :D |

OK, the local "Crazynetwork" as it's named, rated by Synaptic test as fastest in file serving, was slow to replicate from main. Now it's listing 7.0.58 in Synaptic. There's in fact a whole pile of updates over last update I ran yesterday evening, so that explains maybe your 254 over the 321 nightly build. Will post how it's labeled when the apt-get upgrade run is finished. (Preferring console command as it is an <exclusive_app> that pauses BOINC for as long as it's running, stopping zero status checkpoint reverts and mostly HPF2 signal 11 crashes).
----------------------------------------. . . . . . . . . . . and we're up and running again, well actually BOINC was loaded, but is in "Suspended - An exclusive app is running". The startup log shows 7.0.58, Sat 23 Mar 2013 11:14:58 AM CET | | Starting BOINC client version 7.0.58 for x86_64-pc-linux-gnu and a few more minutes later Sat 23 Mar 2013 11:15:29 AM CET | | [dcf] scaling all duration correction factors by 1.022947 Sat 23 Mar 2013 11:18:09 AM CET | | Resuming network activity Sat 23 Mar 2013 11:18:09 AM CET | World Community Grid | Restarting task GFAM_x2VAC_A_hADF2_N_box2_0085369_0191_0 using gfam version 612 in slot 5 Sat 23 Mar 2013 11:18:09 AM CET | World Community Grid | Restarting task GFAM_x2VAC_A_hADF2_N_box2_0085380_0136_0 using gfam version 612 in slot 4 Sat 23 Mar 2013 11:18:09 AM CET | World Community Grid | Restarting task GFAM_x2VAC_A_hADF2_N_box2_0085383_0141_0 using gfam version 612 in slot 6 Sat 23 Mar 2013 11:18:09 AM CET | World Community Grid | Restarting task DSFL_00060-53_0000051_0312_0 using dsfl version 625 in slot 7 Sat 23 Mar 2013 11:18:09 AM CET | World Community Grid | Restarting task GFAM_x2VAC_A_hADF2_N_box2_0085385_0069_0 using gfam version 612 in slot 1 Sat 23 Mar 2013 11:18:09 AM CET | World Community Grid | Restarting task GFAM_x2VAC_A_hADF2_N_box2_0085384_0177_1 using gfam version 612 in slot 3 Sat 23 Mar 2013 11:18:09 AM CET | World Community Grid | Restarting task DSFL_00060-53_0000051_0640_0 using dsfl version 625 in slot 0 Sat 23 Mar 2013 11:18:09 AM CET | World Community Grid | Restarting task GFAM_x2VAC_A_hADF2_N_box2_0085386_0006_0 using gfam version 612 in slot 2 Painless resumption of computing. The about box shows 7.0.58 too, but (x86). Sure to hear from Gianfranco on the low down of this. Crunch On. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Mar 23, 2013 10:36:48 AM] |

Locutus replied, that possibly the 32 bit build of 7.0.58 reached the ppa first, but the (x86) indication in the About box for the 64 bit version has been a longer ago reported issue to the devs. Gianfranco is happy with the wider acceptance of his ppa [note that he also hosts the BOINCTUI replacement of the BM. Got it open in a console most of the times.

Sekerob, It may be difficult to do at this point, but could you send me a sched_request.xml from before you were able to pull work and a sched_request.xml from after you were able to pull work? I want to recreate and see what we can do to add more info in the messages. However, that will probably wait until the 'git v 2' repo goes live and we update to the latest server code. thanks, Kevin Well, now the vacation is over, and git v2 is live ... [after walking into broken links and Locutus alerting us to new builds compile not working. Tracking the shorted changelog is now here: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/gitweb/?p=boinc-v2.git;a=shortlog . Seems another work-fetch bug was discovered via the simulator. :( |

Ok - I was being silly, the problem is easy to reproduce:
Tue 02 Apr 2013 09:50:23 AM CDT | World Community Grid | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks Tue 02 Apr 2013 09:50:23 AM CDT | World Community Grid | No tasks sent Tue 02 Apr 2013 09:50:23 AM CDT | World Community Grid | No tasks are available for The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 Tue 02 Apr 2013 09:50:23 AM CDT | World Community Grid | No tasks are available for Human Proteome Folding - Phase 2 Tue 02 Apr 2013 09:50:23 AM CDT | World Community Grid | No tasks are available for the applications you have selected. Simply opting into cep2 and hpf2 only and using a cc_config.xml file like: <cc_config> <log_flags> </log_flags> <options> <no_alt_platform>1</no_alt_platform> </options> </cc_config> reliably reproduces the issue. I will look into this. |
