Reinstalling BOINC

How do I reinstall the BOINC software so that it recognizes my past devices and statistics?

Thank you in advance for any assistance provided.

Re: Reinstalling BOINC

Under BOINC manager, add project (ie.WCG) and sign-in with your userid and password.

Re: Reinstalling BOINC

Hi C.B.,

I am not an expert, but here is what I do and it seems to work fine for me. Of course, before reinstalling BOINC I stop it from receiving any work and let it run dry. After that, I copy the BOINC folder from Program files and even the Boinc folder where the program downloads and stores the actual WUs. After reinstalling the manager, I re-copy those folders to their original locations and let them merge with the new data. That's all and that seems to work just fine. You won't even have to re-attach to your projects and your device should be recognized as being the same as before so your statistics will keep climbing and won't be restarted (I suppose that's what you meant).

Hope this helps. Cheers!

Reply to the "CandymanWCG":
Totally agree with You. I have 8 devices installed, but some of them are just duplicates. Really working only 2 devices. Now I am looking for information how to make a fresh install, so that old device (from my list of statistics) began to work. Under the same name as in the statistics list, with the same DeviceID, with the same results. The fact that the working directory of my old installed devices in not available. I train on files (*.xml) in DataDirectory. It seems successful. Waiting for update statistics on the site.

Read the scenario #2 (5.1 Install World Community Grid’s BOINC client onto the disk image) - *.xml recommendation.
Help to join the project while maintaining statistics and you user name. I helped. Useful information.
