Re: World Community Grid / Arithmetic Error

Maybe trying to uninsstall the driver, restart, and install the driver again is worth a shot.

Re: World Community Grid / Arithmetic Error

think so, help conquer cancer 7.05 / ati_hcc1 I'm the wrong side of 50 to be gettin into technical issues

Hi, Luapi57:

Welcome to the amazing world of crunching for humanity.

You are never on the wrong side of 50 for this stuff! I was 64 when I joined with a single core AMD: see what I have now.... biggrin As well as WCG projects, I crunch for Folding at Home, POEM at home and GPUGrid.

You will have some frustrations, but you will have fun making a contribution to the research efforts. As you can see there is plenty of friendly help available.

Regards,

John

Hey John,

oh, I been crunching for a few years with SETI and co, so this bussiness is not new to me. But the problem here is this graphic card!!! ( I think ) and that is what I mean by Technical stuff.
I cannot understand why it ran for a month without any problems, and now I get these access violations?!?! oh well, computers have a life of thier own

ok, willing to try anything to get it running again. at present I opted out of crunching on SETI and WCG because I get error messages all the time

Re: World Community Grid / Arithmetic Error

Falconet had the possible answer [even linked in through an FAQ], nanoprobe also pointed to what's required, but if the information is skipped, it will take till the moon reaches escape velocity from earth.

You fixed part 1, now part 2:

05.03.2013 17:05:02 | | App version needs OpenCL but GPU doesn't support it.

Which is an ominous line.

The error code does not match, but given that OpenCL is default *not* installed for ATIs, suggest to get with the SDK part of the effort: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/printpost_post,370155

If that does not work, the card may not be OpenCL capable, which is where the journey ends [it did so for my Radeon too], or pushes one over the money spending threshold ;>)

Re: World Community Grid / Arithmetic Error

Often changing driver needs to have a halfway of running drivercleaner, before installing a new one [think that's too nanoprobe expertise]. BOINC at least is not able to see that the OpenCL driver is running.
