Rob......
I cannot thank you enough. That is really helpful. I am going to write to the organisers of WCG and see if that is possible. |

I am also a vegetarian. I love animals too. By supporting WCG scientists can get a better insight of how compounds work and thus reduce animal testing trials.
----------------------------------------I too wished I were a vegan but I only 18 and live with my parents and they won't let me do it. Oh and cats can't be vegan. They really have to eat meat though I believe there is a medicine that can make them go meat free. Dogs can be vegan or vegetarians without any problems. ![]() - AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W - AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W - AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz [Edit 1 times, last edit by Falconet at Feb 27, 2013 1:21:45 PM] |

Hello Janie and Falconet,
----------------------------------------Add me to the list of vegetarians who try but don't succeed at being vegan. Puppy mills and factory farms are huge issues in my state (Iowa), and I try to work against cruelty to animals in those regards. Kate ![]() |

Falconet.....
----------------------------------------"By supporting WCG scientists can get a better insight of how compounds work and thus reduce animal testing trials...." I very much hope that this is the case. I can understand your parents not supporting veganism - it does take a bit of a dollop of commitment. It isn't an easy option. Having said that, once you leave home you should be able to give it a try....and all good luck in that project. I have so much respect for vegans. I think people are in two minds about vegan and vegetarian food for cats. This article mentions some of the pros and cons quite well... http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/blog/20...vegetarian-week-cats-dogs For me the thought that my cat would not be eating meat made me think that on balance it would be worth trying a reputable brand :-) She however had other ideas :-( Kate... I am totally with you on puppy mills and factory farms. Well done for opposing them :-) [Edit 1 times, last edit by Janie Pickles at Feb 27, 2013 2:53:12 PM] |

I no longer eat yogurt(I eat soygurt, really tasty) and only drink milk at breakfast. So yeah, I will definitely give it a try when I move out. Best regards, and please stay with the World Community Grid. I have raised with HCC researchers the issue of the use of aborted human embryonic tissue in experiments feeding data to the HCC project. I am, for now, satisfied that such tissue is not used. Haven't looked further into others. A hit on any project would see my departure from processing tasks for the project.
