Re: WCG Client for The PS4

I've been looking for another distributed computing project for my PS3, but have found none.

http://oproject.info/index.php

They list PS3 under their ALX app which is currently processing nothing and is still being developed. It is an NCI app that doesn't work exactly how NCI is supposed to work yet. But there you go.

Oh yeah...and here too... http://www.rechenkraft.net/yoyo/

Re: WCG Client for The PS4

But Folding@home was installed on the PS3.

FAH ran under the PS3-"operating system", not under Linux.

Re: WCG Client for The PS4

The PS4 should be even cheaper than the PS3 was.

Re: WCG Client for The PS4

An sich is the 8 core X86_64, low power CPU [or is it APU?] in principle able to have Linux x86 code set run on it, jailbreaking just out of the question as an entry point for WCG to consider supporting. If it could run Linux, and be configured to fetch the app and process it, it would be like FreeBSD and other variants that are not blocked from crunching for WCG, but not formally endorsed. As BOINC is now able to identify intel_gpu, it would need work to recognize the AMD GPU part and then some.

Fixed even though the PS3 wasn't exactly cheap.

Re: WCG Client for The PS4

Yeah...it is supposedly APU and the Ram is GDDR5 (8GB worth) that is shared with the system. I'm guessing the OS is the main limitation for WCG usage.

Re: WCG Client for The PS4

Does anyone know if the Jaguar APU will have 8 real cores or 4 modules with 2 cores each?
