Re: FightAIDS@Home Beta Test Jan 25, 2013 (Issues Thread)

Update following my last post - by 18mins run time, all had finally stopped the 'advance and drop back' routine and have now started to increment the advance the %tage in a more conventional linear progression.....

Re: FightAIDS@Home Beta Test Jan 25, 2013 (Issues Thread)

I have just received 8 WU's, 7 currently running high priority but I have noticed that all 7 have run up to about 4% and are now cycling up to about 4.3% and then dropping back to 3.0/3.5% and climbing back to about 4 - 4.5% before starting the 'staircase cycle' again - been doing this for 12 minutes so far....it doesn't look like normal behaviour to me.....

This is normal behavior for the AutoDock program... multiple tries before the algorythm decides it's found the lowest energy for the particular docking position before moving onto the next docking, repeating on and on. Fire up the graphics and watch the best energy graph, which shows the previous best and the current attempt.

Re: FightAIDS@Home Beta Test Jan 25, 2013 (Issues Thread)

Thanks Rob, I had not looked at the graphics - it was just my reaction to an activity that I hadn't noted before - but then I don't often watch the way WU's work (paint drying comes to mind!!!) - I normally leave them to it - only watching when there are new Beta's....I've had 14 WU's, 11 Valid and no problems, 2 PV for WU's where wingmen have had errors and 2 still in progress, but no signs that they will be anything other than OK. Nice to have another batch of Betas at long last....

Re: FightAIDS@Home Beta Test Jan 25, 2013 (Issues Thread)

I have four. Slackware Linux x86_64 BOINC 7.0.28 64bit. No issues so far.

My system is pure 64bit with no 32bit libs or apps at all. Is FA@H going 64bit now or did I get these units by mistake?

From original 12:

- Mac: 3x Valid, 1 still PVal
- Win: 2x Valid, 1 PVer, 4 still PVal, 1 Invalid

Re: FightAIDS@Home Beta Test Jan 25, 2013 (Issues Thread)

It's so long since I fought any AIDS at home that I can't remember how non-deterministic the code is. But I certainly see some invalids from normally reliable machines and some results with more PVer cycles than I would have thought normal. However, Keith did say
Due to some of the changes in the application members may see a higher than usual results that are not valid.

so I await with interest his comments once the beta is over.
