Re: 23 days of work remaining for target-10

We are hoping for a new target later in April or May. However it depends on how soon the target's protein structure can be determined. This is being done by another research organization. Large proteins are difficult to crystallize and this time consuming step is required before they can use x-ray crystallography to determine the exact structure of the target.

Anything new?

Is May over? (Am pretty sure to have read somewhere it would be later rather than sooner)

Edit: Not May per an offline note.

[only just found this - didn't know HFCC was still occasionally running]

I find that so exciting. The concept of a protein (presumably of interest in childhood cancer research) being discovered, then being crystallised to determine structure, then immediately given to us to crunch - that's science in action for the best possible cause.

I'm reselecting HFCC now.

Is HFCC only for Windows? Am running MAC OSX and am not getting any HFCC units.

davide291, HFCC will be for all platforms - that is, once the scientists have prepared the next target (which, hopefully, will be soon...).

Re: 23 days of work remaining for target-10

Desperately waiting for target-11 to be released. I got into WCG when my mother died from Cancer and feel lost without a Cancer project to crunch (not that I'm saying any other project is not worthwhile, just my preference is to fight the BigC)
