Is there a chart anywhere that indicated which version of Boinc is recommended for various Windows versions?
Thx Fitz ![]() |

Yes, at Berkeley: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php
Specifically, stickied over *all* WCG forums is a post to say that Windows 8 requires 7.0.31 at least to *clean/first time* install in this platform. Same applies to OS-X Lion. WCG is working on internal, then public beta testing a Windows only 7.0.xx version... which is going to be a build above whatever current *latest* 7.0.4x test version. |

Anything of a domain controller nature requires 5.10.45 as latest... that's the last one that does not create these limited rights, special BOINC accounts, which these servers balk at. There's nothing in the pipe FAIK, that this will be fixed in 7.0.xx [don't know current timely as to when, if ever]. I've asked at developers to add a DC line to that page, or whatever server types the 5.10.45 version still applies to.
----------------------------------------Edit (22.2.13): The devs agree and will add a Domain Controller line to the all_downloads page that mentions 5.10.45 for certain Windows strains. Currently the warning is hidden in the release notes, only linked on the main windows download page, that of course nobody reads, or is near guaranteed to miss. AS your link to Berkley shows that the latest recommended version is 7.0.28, where do I get 7.0.31? http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_7.0.31_windows_x86_64.exe for 64-bit, or http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_7.0.31_windows_intelx86.exe for 32-bit. ![]() "I make so many mistakes. Scribe, if you have one link of a version, you have them all... simply change the version number in the link, in the example change the 7.0.28 bit to 7.0.31
