Re: Sluggish with GPU

Sorry to piggyback, but am I right in thinking to segregate BOINC to one GPU you have to break SLI?

Re: Sluggish with GPU

Given that SLI [Scalable Link Interface] makes them act as one, I'd say yes. It *was* in BOINC world the going advice, but you'd like to read some discussion in the below link to get some more user knowledge.

Assigning work to a specific card if both are enabled for crunching, requires adding some lines to the cc_config.xml , link in first reply of this thread. These are the base code lines, where the device numbers, N, start at 0.

<exclude_gpu>
<device_num>N</device_num>
</exclude_gpu>

confused Re: Sluggish with GPU

Regarding the 1st post, I have a similar problem: when running on my Radeon 7450M in my laptop, certain programs like Firefox and VLC feel sluggish while others like Windows Media Player are doing fine. I tried configuring those programs to use the GPU intergrated to the CPU but that didn't bring any results.
Is there a a solution for BOINC 7.0.28 or is 7.0.44 easy-to-use and stable enough that I should download it and try the <exclude_gpu> thingy?

Irineos,

Posting on a [Resolved] thread is not the best method of getting help for your issue. I recommend opening your own thread and if you want referencing this thread in the body of your thread.

Good Luck
