International Science Grid This Week has a great article about this project, http://m.isgtw.org/feature/desktop-power-helps-map-protein-dance.

Nice find and deserving to be mailed around to anyone you can think of that's even slightly of forward mind and be made aware of the other medical/environmental researches WCG hosts. We just last month increased our Green-E [guaranteed wind/hydro/solar generated power budget] by as much to allow the quad to also run 24/7/365. This 6600 nearing it's 7th anniversary, is due to be replaced by a I7-3770K, consuming less juice anyhow.

The one thing that gives me fits, as in so many of these articles in all sorts of media, no mention of BOINC, the BOINC software upon which all of this crunching work depends.
