Q4 Wine

I downloaded an .exe version of BOINC.

Attempting to install the file produced a window saying, Open with Q4Wine (default).
Going with this selection, opened a window that was missing the Wine Libs directory.
The other directories were filled, but the Q4Wine was empty.

I researched and downloaded the latest version of Q4Wine off the internet. However, the same missing directory showed in the window.

My research for locations of this library has produced nothing be frustration.

I hope someone has resolved this headache for me.

Thanks...Gandalf

Re: Q4 Wine

Ubu 12.10 has BOINC 7.0.28 or higher in the USC / Synaptic repository, so no need to do a BOINC windows version install through a VM, lest you want to do really esoteric stuff. Given this is a IIRC first mention, the path taken is a rarity. Nothing pops up in my google "Nessun risultato trovato per boinc linux "Open with Q4Wine (default)". (No results found for...)

Re: Q4 Wine

Gandalf,

The .exe version of BOINC is intended for a Windows install. If you want to install BOINC directly on Ubuntu, you will need to select a BOINC Linux install that ends in .sh.

Of course, if you are intentionally trying to run a Windows version of BOINC under the Wine emulator, that is a completely different problem. Can't help you with that one.

Good Luck
