Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death!"
I live 20 miles from Williamsburg Virginia--delivered newspapers there when i was a kid

Colonial Williamsburg Foundation
To avoid interference from Lieutenant-Governor Dunmore and his Royal Marines, the Second Virginia Convention met March 20, 1775 inland at Richmond--in what is now called St. John's Church--instead of the Capitol in Williamsburg. Delegate Patrick Henry presented resolutions to raise a militia, and to put Virginia in a posture of defense. Henry's opponents urged caution and patience until the crown replied to Congress' latest petition for reconciliation.

On the 23rd, Henry presented a proposal to organize a volunteer company of cavalry or infantry in every Virginia county. By custom, Henry addressed himself to the Convention's president, Peyton Randolph of Williamsburg. Henry's words were not transcribed, but no one who heard them forgot their eloquence, or Henry's closing words: "Give me liberty, or give me death!"

Henry's first biographer, William Wirt of Maryland, was three-years-old in 1775. An assistant federal prosecutor in Aaron Burr's trial for treason at Richmond in 1807, and later attorney general of the United States, Wirt began to collect materials for the biography in 1808, nine years after Henry's death. From the recollections of men like Thomas Jefferson, Wirt reconstructed an account of Henry's life, including the remarks presented below. http://www.history.org/almanack/life/politics/giveme.cfm

Re: 1991 Book Predicts School Shootings By Drugged Individuals In Order To Disarm Public

Not only is the president using the deaths of innocent children to take away our freedoms as Americans, but he also is enlisting living children in his demagoguery. There is no tactic so low that he will not use it.

Re: 1991 Book Predicts School Shootings By Drugged Individuals In Order To Disarm Public

As ratified by the States and authenticated by Thomas Jefferson, Secretary of State:
A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

I would add to this - "So that any lunatic has the right, opportunity and means to mow down a bunch of six and seven year olds in defence of the amendment."

Re: 1991 Book Predicts School Shootings By Drugged Individuals In Order To Disarm Public

Well, some states like Pennsylvania are at least coming around - finally. At long last they've released the names of 60-70k (don't remember the number) of people who have been subject to involuntary committal over the years to the federal firearms background database. But this was only in the wake of yet another tragedy where someone who clearly never should have passed a bkgrd check did and got a gun.

A big part of the problem right now is that the NRA has basically cut the balls off the of the ATF and any other type of enforcement so that if we could only enforce the laws we already have, things might not be so bad.

Of course the mental health issue would remain, so I'm very happy to see that getting some attention, but unfortunately, it's mostly the wrong kind. You have these idiot doctors saying 'oh, if we say we'll report you if you come to us with a serious mental health issue, that's not going to keep people away.' Yeah dipstick. You keep telling yourself that.

Yup - on CNN but I'm about 45 min behind - multiple people shot.

edit: there was a confrontation between 2 shooters and some students were caught in the cross fire. One shooter in custody, one is "missing."

Re: 1991 Book Predicts School Shootings By Drugged Individuals In Order To Disarm Public

Dr. Jim Garrow is well-known for his books and for his humanitarian work to rescue Chinese girls from certain death. The one-child policy in China leads many parents to kill girl babies, either before or after they are born. It is far more prestigious to have a male child than a girl, so they kill the girls.
