Re: JTS 2 Alive - kicking and on the way up

Hi Mousie,
Glad you're here. You always livened up things at my old teams forum.

I guess I missed all the furor of the flamers and you don't have to tell me about it. I gather that some original WCG members resent our being here. That's a shame as we came here to help the project just like them, and have the same right to be here as they do.
Enough of that nonsense. I had a pretty good day for my first with the team and have finished setting up all 10 computers. Now the crunching can begin in earnest. biggrin

The more the merrier

We needed a challenge wink

At the end of the day we are just one big team "Team WCG" and the name of the game is to encourage participation in the WCG hugs .

You are doing a grand job btw what's the JTS 2 bit about?

All the best
Dave

Re: JTS 2 Alive - kicking and on the way up

thanks john smile glad to see you here as well! yep, a shame, though i wouldn't worry too much about them... (a select few individuals)

and you did have an excellent day! took a nice big piece of the pie. biggrin

dave! biggrin or do you prefer david? confused hehe...challenges are always fun. wait, we're the challenge? biggrin hehe...anyhoo...jts 2, is the follow on to jts 1, which is another of vaio's teams at another project. jts is an acronym for just testing something, which came from another completely different forum. smile

just testing something...the team was actually started, to my understandings, when vaio wanted to...erm...test the waters here. biggrin so an appropriate name at the time. smile

edit...and thank you for the kind words smile

Re: JTS 2 Alive - kicking and on the way up

Morning All

Only 5k off the magic 100,000 points a day I see! biggrin biggrin biggrin

It seems there was quite a lively debate going on whilst I've been asleep, but I can't find the original post? Can it be that the person posting retracted their statement and deleted the post? It seems a bit wrong that someone can delete a post once someone has replied to it?

Re: JTS 2 Alive - kicking and on the way up

indeed matt, almost there!

a lively debate, yes. personally i think one of the mods should step in and clarify, cause i see no reason why we should be limited in our posting...nor why we(assuming it is us being spoken of, though i suppose it could apply to anyone that posts) should be called names in said complaintants thread. *shrug*

i'm just gonna go with my sig...hakuna matata, no worries. popcorn anyone?

Oo! Yes please. Preference for salted over sweet.

Just seen the new Andrex thread... maybe another chatty thread will take some of the flak off us? I've posted a suitable reply.

TO MEMBERS OF TEAM DARK CHOCOLATE:

In spite of what Merlinus has said in your thread about JTS 2 team members being banned from the DC thread, please feel free to post here if you wish. We're open to everyone, we don't hold grudges against anyone and of course we believe in freedom of speech. We're all here to contribute to one of the most altruistic projects in the world where people donate their computer cycles, time, electricity bills and in some cases money to buy or build additional machines for this cause. Arguing over whether people post in their team thread too much and leaving the project for this reason seems petty to me and I'm sure to many other members too.

Re: JTS 2 Alive - kicking and on the way up

Oh dear... there goes another DC member.

It's a shame really. I love Dark chocolate, and given my sensitivity to dairy products, it's the only type of chocolate I can eat! I looked at their thread when I joined and they seemed so open and friendly too.

I've just been reading through their thread again. It's gone from such a friendly open and welcoming team to a post-by-post account of members leaving. An interesting recruiting tactic - I don't want to poke fun at them. It's really sad. sad

I watch with interest!

Edit: Apologies for not editing my previous post to write this. I didn't want to be seen to be changing any thing in my previous message to DC members. It was a sincere message and I didn't want it to appear as it I had been back and changed anything later on!

I would hope that this is the attitude that everyone here uses. No-one is forced to give up the spare cycles of their PCs to help mankind. They do it because they want to and are willing to try to help mankind.

As an "old timer" (probably in age as well as how long I have been here smile
), I would like to welcome anyone from anywhere who wish to contribute their spare cycles to crunching. You don't have to join any team if you don't want to.
