I've been happily crunching away on HCC units, both GPU and CPU for months now.
----------------------------------------Today, switched work to attempt HCC GPU and HFCC CPU units at the same time. When the HFCC units were downloaded, most immediately completed with a Computation Error. Other HFCC units proceeded to be crunched for 6 hours until done and then when at 100% went to Computation Error instead of complete. Everything is "stock" on my machine. No app file tweaking. I could attempt only HFCC CPU work, but I don't want to abort my queue of HCC GPU work as it can be hard to replace these days. Anyone know of a solution to this? Below is the event log of a typical HFCC unit error. 12/10/2012 1:59:36 PM | World Community Grid | Starting task HFCC_target-10_02158650_target-10_0001_0 using hfcc version 640 in slot 3 12/10/2012 1:59:37 PM | World Community Grid | Finished download of HFCC_target-10_02158579_target-10_0001_AD4.1_bound.dat.gzb 12/10/2012 1:59:37 PM | World Community Grid | Finished download of hfcc.base.00030.dat.gzb 12/10/2012 1:59:37 PM | World Community Grid | Started download of hfcc.base1.00030.pdbqt.gzb 12/10/2012 1:59:37 PM | World Community Grid | Started download of hfcc.base2.00030.pdbqt.gzb 12/10/2012 1:59:37 PM | World Community Grid | Computation for task HFCC_target-10_02158650_target-10_0001_0 finished 12/10/2012 1:59:37 PM | World Community Grid | Output file HFCC_target-10_02158650_target-10_0001_0_0 for task HFCC_target-10_02158650_target-10_0001_0 absent 12/10/2012 1:59:37 PM | World Community Grid | Output file HFCC_target-10_02158650_target-10_0001_0_1 for task HFCC_target-10_02158650_target-10_0001_0 absent ![]() |

Can you post the result log from one of these errors. To get this go to "My Grid" -> "Result Status" and for one fo the error results click the status "Error". This should show open the result log in a new window.
Thanks, armstrdj |

Thanks armstrdj, here is the result log from an HFCC unit that ran for 4 hours to 100% and then said "computation error" instead of "complete".

Error -161 is described as:
ERR_NOT_FOUND -161 This happens when you have an inconsistent client_state.xml file. Files aren't written to it. Task not found would be the error message. A project reset may fix this. |

Thanks Rob. I've stopped incoming HCC work units and will do a reset when my queue is clean.
----------------------------------------I'll have my first sapphire badge (HCC) in a few days! :-) I had planned to work on HFCC next, but it would be nice to keep the GPU running on HCC while doing so. -Paul ![]() |

What may, or may not have happened is something to ownerships/permission. Propose to do a complete cycle when your queue is empty and run your BOINC installer again, taking the "repair" option, then do a project reset.
There's no reason why HCC and HFCC can't live together and for that matter any WCG science combination. |

Good to know, will do. I appreciate everyone's time and effort.
-----------------------------------------Paul ------------- Edit with reset results: I have uninstalled and reinstalled the BOINC client and I'm happy to report that I'm able to run both HFCC units and HCC GPU units at the same time without errors. Thanks again for everyone's tech help. -Paul ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by pmm1018 at Dec 14, 2012 12:21:52 AM] |
