Gabry,
Please post the message/event log series from 5 lines before to 5 lines after this error and also if the result ended in error/invalid, the Result Log which you can find under the error/invalid link on the My Grid > Result Status page. Did the task show this problem directly at start or had it been running for longer? What science? (Unless this is a website problem, report your issues in BOINC, GPU or the respective science support forum). A dopo |

the 'error appears in the manager boinc and not always, and it is written next to the name of a wu. In any case, the wu is valid when it is finished

See Start Here FAQ index section 4, item AU for an explanation. Without you posting the requested message log, it's hard to assess which of the various Zero Status you're talking about.

"If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project."
Only when it happens 100 times, the client will abort the task as it says at the bottom. If it happens sporadically, you may ignore. Your system was temporarily very busy for more than 30 seconds, so the task is restarted from last checkpoint. |

This used to happen to me a lot when running CEP2. Seemed to me it was almost exclusively on machines with hyper-threading enabled. Since I have turned hyper-threading off, that message appears very rarely and my productivity on those machines has improved.

homeslice,
You may be a candidate for the up and coming WCG BOINC client that's currently tested (7.0.4x). You can then at science level control how many run. E.g. on a hypertreaded duo you could set the profile to buffer 4 CEP2 but set the machine to only run 2 [You can also achieve that with setting BOINC to run only 50% on a dual core hyperthreaded [4 threads in effect]. The new configuration settings in effect allows you to run limited CEP2 and other light sciences on the other free threads. Anytime one of the CEP2 finishes, the next CEP2 will start [since they have been waiting longer to get a free slot to run on, but will never take a free slot if 2 are already running, in the example]. This way you can leave your hyper-threading on for the times that you are using the system. The OS anyway gives spare cycles to running processes if it can [W7/W8]. Limit BOINC to just 50% of processors on an HT device and you'll find the tasks run much faster anyhow. |
