Failed to add project

Hello,

Just got a new Win 7 (x64) machine. Loaded BOINC 7.0.28 (which works on my Vista Machine) as a service. So far, no issue. Tried to attach to WCG and get the following message:

Failed to add project
an error has occured;
Check event log for details
Click finish to close

I was able to attach successfully to other projects, but WCG is my favorite. I checked the event log but all it says is:

fetching config file from http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/get_project_config.php

I've tried removing 7.0.28 and installed 6.12.34 - that didn't work either - same message. I then tried wcg's version of boinc all with no success. I currently have 7.0.28 back on that machine. It seems to work fine attached to other projects.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Re: Failed to add project

Of course you entered member name/password and not email-address password.

Is the security setup identical to your other machines? New machine... lots of them over here come with the abominable Norton [60 days free use] ... use wooden stick and hammer (but that's just me who'd do that on this product).

What you could do as a hack is copy the account_wcg.org.xml and master.www.wcg.org.xml files from another machine and restart the client. It could get fooled into thinking it's already attached to WCG.

Re: Failed to add project

Oh my. Well, now, I feel pretty damn stupid. I have 20 some odd machines running WCG and even though the screen said enter username, I was putting my e-mail address in.

I'm going to blame this on advancing age and pretend this never happened.

Thanks Rob

Well, that was simple. I've created for you and any geriatrics needing members the shortest FAQ I could think of... item 4T: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,2150
