Weeell..I mean we have to be prepared to fight off aliens somehow, don't we ... I think some nice bacteria would probably do the job just fine CJSL That might also be true...but there is a risk that bacteria won't be able to infect alien life (at least not until it has adapted/mutated). However, if we find the aliens before they arrive and then develop/customize a bacteria that fits them it might just work. Still, doing it with a death star instead would be more spectacular I think :) EDIT: Ok, we must not forget that the aliens could come in peace...but would we? Nope... Perhaps they have used up all their resources and are no longer living on a "stationary" planet, but constantly traveling in universe in a massive fleet of space-ships (moving faster than light by not actually moving in space but instead moving by altering the space around them); scavenging what resources they find (like Earth)... But that's just a theory... ![]() ![]() Join The International Team: https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/team/viewTeamInfo.do?teamId=CK9RP1BKX1 AMD TR2990WX @ PBO, 64GB Quad 3200MHz 14-17-17-17-1T, RX6900XT @ Stock AMD 3800X @ PBO AMD 2700X @ 4GHz [Edit 1 times, last edit by flodisar at Dec 7, 2012 8:05:15 AM] |

This is now starting to take a dubious line... your thread, flodisar, to keep it on the light/extraterrestrial trail...

Yes, it could be somewhat misunderstood perhaps...but I am pretty sure we have extraterrestrials everywhere among us...but perhaps that's a project for SETI to find out. :)
----------------------------------------Sorry, will try to keep this to the point - the death star. I can imagine just how much jobs would be created in these times of financial crisis. There could be some project on WCG in year 2016 starting with simulations to see if it is feasible to construct such a thing in a working condition ;) ![]() Join The International Team: https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/team/viewTeamInfo.do?teamId=CK9RP1BKX1 AMD TR2990WX @ PBO, 64GB Quad 3200MHz 14-17-17-17-1T, RX6900XT @ Stock AMD 3800X @ PBO AMD 2700X @ 4GHz |

Fodder for psychiatrists ;-) I am amazed. My teammate Blurf posted a link to "Relay For Life" event of American Cancer Society (http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?fr_id=49428&pg=personal&px=26779290) few days ago and it was removed due to "WCG does not allow solicitation of any type". On the other hand, such links as SekeRob nicely (and gently) defined as "Fodder for psychiatrist" are allowed... Cheers and NI! I am not sure, but I suspect it could have something to to with the "Relay For Life" gathering money donations, while the Death Star is just a petition? But I have no idea... I did not intend to break any WCG policy though, just thought it was a really cool project that some perhaps would find interesting to sign the petition for. What waste of time. I am frequently dismayed by the drivel in these forums. Let's focus on RESEARCH, folks. crunching, crunching, crunching. AMD Ryzen 5 2600 6-core Processor with Windows 11 64 Pro. This is what the chat room is for, John. [I think]Anyone who participates in this area is sure to have her/his crunchers doing the max in research, the computational way.
:D too |

Hahaha ... it must be "freaky friday". First an update to the Cold Fusion Scam and now a Death Star. (Slow news day?)
----------------------------------------To me, this petition is redundant as the White House is already a "Death Star". Enjoy your Friday crunchers. ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Dataman at Dec 7, 2012 3:12:31 PM] |

I believe that the chat room is a good place for such things, to take a "break" from the other more serious and research-oriented forum sectios. Even scientists know that to achieve large goals you need to take small breaks :) Also, I believe that the people who are active in the forums are also very active crunchers. I for one dedicate my HD7970 + 12 threaded CPU to science 24/7...it doesn't mean I can't put something funny in the Chat Room...I believe. ![]() Join The International Team: https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/team/viewTeamInfo.do?teamId=CK9RP1BKX1 AMD TR2990WX @ PBO, 64GB Quad 3200MHz 14-17-17-17-1T, RX6900XT @ Stock AMD 3800X @ PBO AMD 2700X @ 4GHz |
