Re: Computation Error

I have reinstalled the drivers of the gpu also i tryed and older version of the driver. I also reinstalled the boinc client. Nothing helps. Still computation error :(

I assume by this you mean that you downloaded the Catalyst software for the HD7xxx series cards from the AMD web site and installed that.

If so, are you running multiple threads? Have you increased the number of concurrent threads?

More powerful cards can handle more threads but they require more motherboard memory - virtual/pagefile memory doesn't cut it. If you don't have enough, that will also give you comp. errors.

Found that out the hard way last night - more memory on order.

Re: Computation Error

I just saw in that thread
https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,34078
That there are just 163 results returned of a gpu of serie ati 7800 but for example 6700 for model 7900 serie. Is it possible that there is a general problem of the gpu i use ? so 7850 ?

Re: Computation Error

I'm running 8 wu's on a 7870 and several of my Team mates are running 7850/7870's all of them are running fine.

I'm unsure what your issue is with yours but it I don't believe that the card is the problem.

That thread was updated on the 17th of October. It was in the first week of HCC GPU.

Re: Computation Error

Have you ran any non-HCC WUs on that card?

Re: Computation Error

I've got two computers both with the latest Catalyst drivers and the APP-SDK installed. One has a 7870 the other has a 7770. The 7870 crunches like a dream however the 7770 errors out WUs right away (no processing time).

Any ideas? I can't find any errors in log files anywhere. Messages tab just says "result file not found" or whatever.

One good place to start looking for clues as to what may be going on with your machine/setup as regards to BOINC operations -- is the stdoutdae.txt file. That file contains a historical log of how BOINC operations went starting from an install. It's a good idea to take hold of the data there before a BOINC uninstall and after a BOINC install, should there be a need for such an install or uninstall.

What should I look for? The initial logs about detecting AMD look the same on the 7770 machine vs the 7870 machine.

If I turn on GPU use on the 7770 machine here are the logs where it fails... not much help:

Re: Computation Error

Hello RenegadeBovine,
This is just a bewildered stab. Did your 7770 machine have an earlier GPU whose device drivers were not uninstalled? I think that there is something peculiar about the installation / software environment of the 7770.
