Intel Xeon Phi Coprocessor board

Will the use of such a boards require some adpatations of the WCG projects code (which would mean that they are not compatible) or will they be seen by the Boinc application simply as additional cores, and handled by the OS as such.

Retail availability is for January 13, so it is not so far in time.

I wonder if there is some opinon already from tech at WCG.

What are they? From intertubes "Product Brief: Delivers greater aggregate performance for highly parallel application processing while eliminating dual-programming architecture."

Think we're not parallel processing ready yet... one work unit using multiple threads.

Re: Intel Xeon Phi Coprocessor board

This is not the right chip for the average user. It will require some programming effort and some specialized hardware. Looks like it only runs on Linux at the moment. See:

Cheers
