The Road To 500,000,000 Yesterday Today No, there's no guarantee we'll make it. There's plenty of things that could happen to prevent it but I think it's worth a try. Without GPU crunching, this would have been pretty much impossible. I think I figured a while back in pre-GPU days that we would need a 13 month year for anything like this to be remotely possible. We do a lot a crunching in a month. For the last three weeks or so, excluding the days WCG was out of GPU work, we've been doing well enough that this is well within reach. Yea, I'm betting that our "short-term normal" is in fact normal but, when it comes to the diseases and sciences we're crunching on, every "extra" point means being that much closer that much sooner to our REAL goal. It's close enough that it's worth trying for. Even if we don't make it, it will still be worth the effort. BTW, you have to love that fact that while trying to help find a cure for malaria, we've found a potential major treatment for TB! |

Good Sunday Morning Team The Road To 500,000,000 Yesterday Today No, there's no guarantee we'll make it. There's plenty of things that could happen to prevent it but I think it's worth a try. BTW, you have to love that fact that while trying to help find a cure for malaria, we've found a potential major treatment for TB! We all agree that every point moves us toward the real goal. That is why we are all here in the first place. ![]() Hey would you put a pointer to the material on the treatment for TB you mentioned above? I don't get all my memos! Sure. There is no reason not to shoot for a half billion points. It would be a virtual feather in our collective virtual cap. As long as there are not going to be any beatings for not making it. Don't anyone step on a slippery rock or fail to pay your electricity bill or anything like that. Everyone have a super Sunday. Not "the" super Sunday but a super Sunday nonetheless. |

Can't get my one computer to connect to the Internet. 4 cores and 8 threads. I'm pretty upset. Tried everything :(

Mike, details please.
---------------------------------------- I think it's safe to say your connection to the net is not down as you posted here. Are you using the same modem/router that the problem machine as it used before when it worked? I'm guessing not. Are you using encryption with a password on it? Does trying to connect to it thru the wireless router work? I assume no. Have you tried an ethernet connection? If that works, the problem is with the wireless connection. If not, it may be with your connection document. Rather than try to fix that, try creating a new connection doc for it and see if you can get ethernet to work. |

Interesting numbers:
----------------------------------------November points : 65 million October points : 42 million November HCC points : 44 million October GCC points : 23 million Of the 23 million overall gain, 21 million came from HCC. Safe bet that most of that is GPU. |

The only thing I haven't tried is connecting the one computer to the cable modem. Making it the main one instead of the newest one.

That didn't work either. Down to one computer, and I am bummed.
