Re: Cache was dry this morning

Just checked my "Results status," and it shows that I received a new batch of GPU WUs about an hour ago.

Re: Cache was dry this morning

I have a computer that I checked off only HCC so I would only get the GPU work units. It is now working other projects since I have checked off the do other projects if there are no HCC units. So I assume there are no HCC units now. I was getting a lot of units that had computational errors so maybe they are having problems with the work units. There are HCC units that do not use the GPU. I have a computer that is doing two of them. There estimated time of completion is about 2 hours. This compares to the GPU units which have been completed in about 20 minutes.

Re: Cache was dry this morning

OK, as a test, I increased the Additional Work Buffer on a couple of machines (HCC + occasional only) and am only geting GPU WUs.

No indication in messages that there is no work available for CPU units of HCC1 at the moment.

I've observed a much higher incidence of resends on all machines, but it's hard to decide if that means that there are more errors or if it's because there are less people volunteering their CPUs for this project.

If you are finding your amount of work to be done is running low, it might be worthwhile for you to temporarily increase your additional work buffer in preparation for their return to distribution.

Re: Cache was dry this morning

I am showing about 5% correction units for HCC on CPU, not much different than it has been recently.
Cheers

Re: Cache was dry this morning

It's been above 10% on some of my machines over the past few days. I've been too busy to watch the results though, but doing a result status just now looks as if they have all returned valid.

Re: Cache was dry this morning

Just piping in with another data point: I am only getting 1 CPU work unit for every ~50 GPU work units. I increased my work buffer to 1 day and got 4 more GPU work units with ~200 GPU units. Not enough to popular my cores at first.... but after a short while, and forcing a few updates, I have a small and growing buffer of CPU units.

You can go into WCG preferences and select don't use cpu in order to just receive gpu.

That is about what I get too, but I would like only GPU work units for HCC, while still processing CPU work units for the other projects. At the moment, I don't know how to exclude the HCC CPU work units though.

Re: Cache was dry this morning

Select GPU work, do NOT select HCC. Select at least one other project.....and select send me work from other projects if selected work is not available.
With this you get CPU work for your selected project, but NO CPU work for HCC, and you get GPU work for HCC under the "Send me work if selected not available" rule......works fine for me.... biggrin
