What is the bold part that shiws up when I double-click the the app_info file

Whatever that first line is it shouldn't be there.
Right click on the app_info and select open with Notepad. Copy and paste that here so we can see what you have.

Re: Switching from NV HCC1 to AMD HCC1

I find CPU isn't that important in the project,

Did you test your theory? Actually it's very important. I tested a 7970 on an i7-860 and the same card on an i7-2600k with the memory clocks set the same. The difference was about 200k PPD.

I did in fact test the theory with my FX-8120.

When it was running at 4.4Ghz with 1600MHz DDR3, it achieved less utilization, and higher runtime, than when I had it running at 4Ghz with 1800MHz DDR3.

A faster CPU can speed up the CPU portion in runtime, but memory speed has a more profound effect. Running 9 work units on 8 cores at 4Ghz, there is plenty of CPU to utilize, with GPU utilization being the biggest problem. At 1800Mhz I have achieved a constant 95% GPU usage, up from the 80% usage I had before.

Re: Switching from NV HCC1 to AMD HCC1

It stopped last night. Musta been my OC on the 7870 cause my cpu don't go above 40C and has been rock solid. I haven't yet messed with the cpu OC stuff.
My card came 1000 from factory with 1200 mem. I had upped it to 1090 and 1250 with 3% power increase. Didn't seem to be going over 42C so I left it that way and went to work.
Taking back to 1050 and 1250 leaving the power increase. I'm new to AMD GPU's. Does this sound like the right move?

BTW, that bolded line in the app_info only happenned when I doubleclicked the file. It's not in the actual file. Also, I think I will find a HCC1 and GFAM app info and move to 6 HCC1 and 6 GFAM. Increasing the HCC1 instances running does not appear to give a large enough increase to warrant the babysitting :)

I'll go all HCC1 if I work this Saturday. Cause I'll order another 7870 and run 6 each for 12 when it arrives. I'm sure there's other projects that AMD does better on than NV in case the HCC1 does not renew.

For now I moved the 2 570's back to GpuGrid as they are much more efficient there.
