I find CPU isn't that important in the project, Did you test your theory? Actually it's very important. I tested a 7970 on an i7-860 and the same card on an i7-2600k with the memory clocks set the same. The difference was about 200k PPD.
In 1969 I took an oath to defend and protect the U S Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and Domestic. There was no expiration date.

If it is crunching your GPU's as you expected, nothing. Just uncheck HFCC project in the profile connected to that computer. I am getting the same "errors" while crunching 6xHCC1 GPU (approximately 10 mins each on HD 7750 + i7 3770) + 2xGFAM CPU.

Everyone should have been running 12.11 beta 4 driver as soon as it released last month. HD 7800 and hex i7? That's a weird combination. Why not dual 7970s? I find CPU isn't that important in the project, my 7950 with FX-8120@4Ghz has been running along smoothly with 95% GPU load at all times, but upping memory frequency helped quite a bit. My return times are in the 22-25 seconds per work unit. 7870 is a very powerful card at a sweet spot in price. I'll be ordering another soon. I have 3 PCIe slots so may even be able to run a 3rd with the 980X. Also as nano pointed out, CPU clock makes a big difference. My 7870 was turning in 7970 completion times when running single unit on it. The hex I7 X cpus have advantages over quad I7s and some of the newer classes will have advantages over the hexcores. Clock speed is very helpfull but architecture matters too in the Gpu WUs. |

You seem to have everything planned out. Looks good. I've been using 12.10 with no issues. I installed ONLY the drivers from CCC, not the whole package. Had issues with the entire package and nano mentioned bugs in it too. I haven't played with the settings to change anything and am working just fine. Am doing 8 with my 7870 ghz edition and have a 7950 enroute for my other cruncher. Good luck. Just an FYI. The 12.11beta4 drivers are even faster and seem to help those that are having WUs that hang and haven't applied the regedit mod . Switched all machines. All flawless so far. Running that driver. Working well except no tasks are downloading for HCC1. Just the resends and I can't tell whether they were HCC1 NV or CPU. I ran out all my HCC1 nv on "won't download" setting in Boinc manager. But there were CPU tasks left in qeue when I applied the app_info file. Running the HCC1 only app_info I think. |

Working now. Had to detach (remove WCG) and reattach Thanks for that. I had tried everything except for detatching. My i7-3770 and 7870 are now rid of that pesky lost GFAM WU and are cruching 8 HCC-GPUs. |

I've been messin' with different app_info setups and have found that 8 WU's seems to work best. They're going at average 3 1/2 min per.
----------------------------------------I adjusted my app_info to include 1.2 as max cpu cores. Don't know why it shaves some time, but the cpu work really loads down at the beginning and end. Maybe its actually using capable of using more than 1 cpu core there. Might try to advance the OC back to 4.1. Also will try openning up WCG to all 12 cores as it's rarely there. Edit: these wus for ati/amd are quite varied in size compared with their NV counterparts. makes it diff to tell when tweaking ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Nov 7, 2012 1:45:02 AM] |

It is probably adding that line. Here is some info on it: The XML declaration typically appears as the first line in an XML document. The XML declaration is not required, however, if used it must be the first line in the document and no other content or white space can precede it. The XML declaration in the document map consists of the following: The version number, <?xml version="1.0"?>. This is mandatory. Although the number might change for future versions of XML, 1.0 is the current version. |
