Intermittent error reporting results
Along with other folks, I'm seeing the following error:

10/22/2012 11:08:10 AM World Community Grid update requested by user
10/22/2012 11:08:14 AM World Community Grid Sending scheduler request: Requested by user.
10/22/2012 11:08:14 AM World Community Grid Reporting 1 completed tasks, not requesting new tasks
10/22/2012 11:08:49 AM Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site
10/22/2012 11:08:49 AM World Community Grid Scheduler request failed: Transferred a partial file10/22/2012 11:08:51 AM Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down.

At the same time, I can submit an update from a different cruncher that does not have any tasks to report and that update processes just fine. Eventually, the cruncher getting the error is able to successfully report its tasks. In both cases, we're dealing with an update request to the servers. The difference is whether there is a task to report or not. If the server was down, I would expect both to fail. I suspect some sort of problem accessing the database or another file system problem.

Like I said, this is intermittent. It only happens when a machine is reporting a result. Once it happens, it continues to happen with every subsequent update from that machine for at least 15-30 minutes and possibly as long as 2-3 hours. I think it's safe to say that the problem is not systemwide when it occurs. It appears to be specific to a device. Not sure if this would be with the scheduler or the transitioner (maybe even something else). It's not a frequent problem. I've seen it on my machines 3-4 times over the past 4-5 days.

This is what I have experienced. It is totally intermittent. Emphasis added is mine. Maybe it just means the servers are too busy at the moment to establish the connection. It does resolve itself.

I have been having the same problem and i thought it was due to satellite connection--but i guess not--on one computer it had 119 finished results sad

Heard from the admins a few days ago that they had made some changes that should reduce the frequency of these messages. Actually, I haven't caught any of these messages since I posted this so I guess the changes are working. biggrin

Heard from the admins a few days ago that they had made some changes that should reduce the frequency of these messages. Actually, I haven't caught any of these messages since I posted this so I guess the changes are working. biggrin
