Thanks a lot, Lawrence, for this link. Good to read that the BOINC people are willing to embrace a new technology.
@Topic: 62 hours left and roughly 250,000 $ to go. I hope they will make it or at least try it one more time. IMHO the hardware and the idea is great but the presentation and the videos they showed off have lacked some proficiency. However, I'll keep my fingers crossed. |

This has cloud computing writen all over it. Get folks hooked before charging a fee for the use of their processors. I'll pass. But do think we will be seeing ARM base computers with multiple processors in the near future. Will be interesting.

Stumbled on this OMG update, Oct.26: http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2012/10/parallella...upercomputer-for-everyone looking to miss it's funding objective. Was to run Ubuntu.

Just visited their Kick Starter Page, looks like it surpassed its funding objective.
As I said in another thread about this, I remain unconvinced until I see somewhat wide spread support from Boinc based projects for this platform. (Which I do realize is hard now as the platform really isn't even out yet). |

Yeah, we did it! Thanks a lot for your support. Can't wait to get my hands on one of those. I'm dreaming of running one Parallela as a solar-powered 24/7 supercomputer for BOINC.

Im not trolling. I think its an exciting development that people who subscribe to this particular thread might be interested in. This thread was initiated by someone else, to publicize Parallella, and only yesterday BOINC updated to support it.

So you find 3topics and in ALL of the you posted the SAME message...that is called trolling! nice that BOINC supports it...but science part is written by scientists on Universities...and most people don't use those devices...so I'm pretty sure, we'll not see them here on next BOINC upgrade! ![]() |

Okay, so I just checked this out for the first time.
Am I missing something, or are we talking about as many as 64 cores of processing power sharing 1 gigabyte of RAM? Wouldn't that severely limit its applicability to BOINC? |
