sad no tasks being downloaded
It's been a a week now and I keep getting no new tasks. I have reset, checked settings and it stays the same. I try to manually update and it seems to try, then communication deferred.
What is up??

Plz go to this location in the file explorer (could be hidden so you might have to type this in the address bar).

C:\ProgramData\BOINC

Check if a file called cc_config.xml exists, and if so add the below line between the <log_flag> lines per the sample below.

<work_fetch_debug>1</work_fetch_debug>
<cc_config>
   <log_flags>
       <work_fetch_debug>1</work_fetch_debug>
   </log_flags>
   <options>
    </options>
</cc_config>

When done, go to the BOINC Manager advanced menu and select Read config. Then hit update in the project tab, and post the additional log lines. This will tell us more on why no work is fetched.

When in BOINC Manager projects tab, select WCG and confirm that there is a button on left that says "No New Tasks". If there is not but one that reads "Allow New Tasks", hit that button so it changes to No New Tasks.

Tried to do that .... ran as admin and got access denied, shut down Boinc and same result, won't let me alter the file.

hmmm, your message log indicates the client was not installed as service but at user level:

That would be the person to be allowed to edit/add the file. You can right click the file and force an ownership change, or uninstall and reinstall BOINC, then in the advanced install view select "Allow All Users". Better to also select "Protected Application Execution", but only if you do not plan to crunch on the GPU in your computer.

Hello rbateai,
Right-click on cc_config.xml. Then select Properties at the bottom of the Menu. General lets you uncheck Read Only. Security lets you edit attributes for various users. Something in Properties is keeping you from doing what you want.

Added: Sekerob ( https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/...ead,33959_offset,0#395147 ) is giving good advice. The easy way to solve this problem is to reinstall BOINC with the proper settings in the first place.

i think there are reading permissions issue on all boinc data folder ..

no, no other difficulties, Tried reinstalling Boinc and giving the permissions, still can't change the cc file.

I am the admin/Rex, checked on access and I am supposed to be able to change it, but still get access denied.
