Out of Steady Work

We have finally reached the end of steady work for the project. Due to the continued generation of workunits, there will be intermittent work for sometime yet, but it will not be regularly available.

Thank you all for getting us to this point!!!!!!

Re: Out of Steady Work

So does this mean that all the workunits we recieve from this post on are just re-sends?

Re: Out of Steady Work

Chase Tarson, no - as Kevin pointed out, new WU's will still be generated from WU's that have been returned - yet didn't finish completely. Thus (for example), if a Grandchild wasn't fully finished by both wingmen, there'll be a Great Grandchild created to finish off (hopefully) the rest of the work.

Of course, there'll also be resends thrown into the mix as well...

Re: Out of Steady Work

I am going to give myself a pat on the back for my part in finishing this project. I really hope that this work will help mankind cure this disease. I can now go back to using my two computers to do number crunching on The Clean Energy Project. For the good of the planet, we have to move away from fossil fuels for our energy needs.

I wished I would have found WCG sooner than I did. Better late than never.

Would like to get one of those Hexacore systems before the year end.

Re: Out of Steady Work

For myself and my son, our gratitude to everyone involved with HCMD2 is immeasurable. Words are hardly enough to describe the significance that this project has become for me as I look for ways to help my son. HCMD is a beacon of hope for me, and many times a day, everyday, I check the task list progress to ensure that both computers are crunching without delay. It is the first thing I do in the morning and the last thing before bed in the evening.

Since starting back in July, I had accumulated almost 3.5 years of processing time and was wondering if 4 years would be possible. Like CE Hunt, I wished that I would have found WCG sooner but this is of course hindsight, as it was a response to my son's diagnosis.

Had my son not been diagnosed with DMD, it is certain I would not have even heard of WCG or even Googled it. This diagnosis has created a new reality, of which WCG is a part. Due to this -shall we say- unexpected situation, I am grateful that there was something like HCMD that I could joint and contribute to in order to help my son and others.

HCMD existed many years before I showed up, and many thousands of crunchers kept the project going from beginning to end. To them, I offer my most hearftelt thank you.

This is exactly why I crunch at WCG, knowing it means a lot to a lot of people. Accelerating research in this active way is by my opinion way better than donating money to charity organizations where most of the funds never reach further than the pockets of the CEOs etc...

God bless you and your son! Tell him that people here are doing this for him and for others having some of the diagnosis of which projects we crunch.

Exactly the reason why I am 100% on WCG.

Re: Out of Steady Work

It's nice to see another project finish. Hopefully the "real life" results can be implemented soon.

HCMD existed many years before I showed up, and many thousands of crunchers kept the project going from beginning to end.

A nice way to say "thanks" is to keep crunching, also in other projects. Maybe they are a bit further away from your immediate situation, but only the fact that they are here in WCG tells me they are worthy. And who knows, maybe WCG will ask our help for a "Phase 3" sometime later. It would be a pity if you are not around at that time.
