OK I have looked all over the forums and through various FAQs and so on...
Either I'm just dumb, or there doesn't seem to be any information on exactly what this 'feature' is or does... Anyone out there know? |

Select computer is for when you want to select [another] computer on your LAN e.g. that also runs BOINC.

a_mobile_humanist,
The external wiki "unofficial BOINC wiki" [your first link], has not been maintained for years... ideally no longer made reference to as it has many expired pieces of information. Thanks for your member forum support. Good and Ready. cheers |

This page was last modified on 1 February 2011, at 05:18. Hmm. Good point to keep in mind, although I did read the page (admittedly fairly quickly) for general accuracy before I posted the link. At any rate, I posted both links since the "unofficial" version makes specific mention of the "Select Computer..." option (even if the link there is dead...oops) where the Berkeley wiki article seems more technically oriented. It seems odd to think of wikis as ever being out of date, as anyone could update it as they please. Good advice though; will keep an eye peeled for "last modified" stamps. ![]() |

Yes the wiki there is way to technical and stenographic. Set up an account at Berkeley [used to require Dr. Anderson's approval... no anonymous IP editing] and feel free to redact to make it more regular cruncher legible, which I occasionally do [4 times a year maybe the odd bit and sometimes as a WCG exception or concern]. At any rate, the UBW is left up for the many legacy links and if I see a page that can replace UBW links on the Start Here FAQ index, I do so. They do have though some "nowhere else" info, which if not wrong I silently leave as reference.
