Following nanoprobe's suggestion I've upgraded to 7.0.28! Fingers crossed. Just need a few more Betas to try.

@ nanoprobe Thanks for the suggestion. Sadly it didn't work for me. Suspending and then resuming had the effect of restarting the task at zero and the cycle begins again and then repeats the hang at 99.415%. Same for me. In the batch a few days ago, I had two that sailed through, paused for only a minute or a minute and a half at 99.415%, and then finished and uploaded. This batch I had three like that. The others in the first batch all hung for extended periods of time (I let them keep trying for up to 45 minutes) at 99.415% and wouldn't finish for anything. Suspending and resuming all the GPU WUs resulted in just restarting from 0; same with restarting BOINC and restarting the computer. So far two in this batch have likewise hung; the other two haven't started running yet. I'll see about upgrading to 7.0.36. When setting up this computer less than a week ago, I installed 7.0.28 from the BOINC Berkely website -- that's what they're offering as the up-to-date version. |

Try this the next time it happens before you abort them. Suspend all the HCC GPU tasks in cache and the one that is stuck at the same time. Wait 10 seconds then resume all of them at the same time. I've only had 1 get stuck and it finished after I did the above. Had 1 stuck GPU WU. Waited 1 hr with no change then tried nanoprobe suggestion but no joy. I then suspended all Ready to Run WUs, then suspended all running WUs (including the stuck GPU WU) and then resumed only the stuck GPU WU. That solved the problem for me. Once the stuck GPU WU ended I resumed all WUs. The remaining 3 GPU WUs completed normally. BOINC: 6.10.58 OS: Win 7 (64b)

This is the first time i am having issues on my ati 6950. Turn on monitor but it wont bring up the desktop, just black screen. Power button glows green as if its working normally, not yellow like its in standby.
----------------------------------------Have one error on the 6950. Maximum elapsed time exceeded. My ati 5670 completed all.

Bill P, your solution worked for me so far. I suspended all WUs (CPU and GPU) and then resumed just a stuck beta. It ran through just fine (only 45 secs paused at 99.415%). I then unsuspended the next GPU beta, and it too processed ok. I've now unsuspended everything, so I have a beta running concurrently with 3 CPU tasks. We'll see whether this beta makes it through.
----------------------------------------In the two batches of betas that I've received, the first two have run through fine each time. Then the subsequent ones have had problems. It's as if the GPU betas weren't cleaning up correctly after themselves, which affected later ones that tried to run. Suspending everything seemed to clear up the clog. |

No beta-HCC-GPU-v6.50 WU on my Win-machine so far for this GPU Beta test 17.09.12 edition... I'm still waiting...

Are the server-side logic for handling CPU-based WUs somehow get in the way of correct handling of the GPU-based (beta at this time) WUs? edit1: Another thing that makes it difficult for client-crunchers to understand messages is the use of unqualified words in those messages, specifically the 'tasks' word. A 'tasks' may refer to either CPU-tasks and/or GPU-tasks, CPU-only tasks, or GPU-only tasks. Which tasks are referred to for each instance of the unqualified 'tasks' word -- has been difficult to resolve. The mental-inertia developed by the CPU-only world, I can only suspect, played a big role in the resistance to acknowledge the need to qualify the 'tasks' word as we march towards a CPU + GPU computing world. ; ; edit1_2012.09.18Tu.0524.utc ; [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Sep 18, 2012 5:24:01 AM] |

Got quite a few betas this round, no errors, many pending validation.Running BOINC 7.0.28. HD7970 @ stock. Win7 x64 Pro. 16GB RAM, 4GB RAMDISK for Boinc-data. Runtimes are 0.02h and I have inoticed that for every beta session I get more credit. earlier I got 55.7 points for 0.02h, almost on all WUs, not I get 56.6 on most.

I'm having a lot better luck with this batch than the previous one. Most of the previous batch got stuck at 99.415% and wouldn't finish no matter what I did with suspending, resuming, restarting BOINC, even rebooting. With this batch, the first three have run through, reported and validated. They pause for a minute or so at 99.415% but then complete on their own. Hope this continues! I have 5 more. good knreed has now removed all the chaff [unsupported cards] from the circulation, but knocked my desktop off officially :(. kateiacy, can you tell us [sorry to ask again, if you told us before] if you're using the BOINC throttle [CPU time function], the classic cause of results hanging or TThrottle? Something to be positive on to know not to cause issue. (Personally, for GPU crunching, I'd not linger and move on to 7.0.31 or .36 [which is what I'm running now] with a slew of fixes and more GPU issues addressed), regardless the additional code WCG puts in the applications to be able to run on 6.10.58.) |

Of the 25 tasks received all are valid except for 4 still pending validation. On previous tests about 20 to 30 percent failed with exit code 293. I do not understand how removing cards on other machines which cause errors allows my machine to complete all my tasks without error.
