Re: Unable to download new tasks

Just an update, over on the Archlinux forums a user pointed me in the direction of a fix for this topics problem, it seems Ubuntu already had a fix, and I had a look through and applied it to the Archlinux OpenSSL package. Confirmation from Azriel on the Archlinux forum , seems to conclude the fix works biggrin , but I suggest a few more days testing.

Re: Unable to download new tasks - On Linux

Parts of your discussions well above my level of comprehension v.v. Linux, but mentioning the OpenSSL and the mention of 0.98, it reminded me of this short FAQ of 2008: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,18311

If what you guys did works out to create a stable state, I'll add this thread with some introduction to the Start Here FAQ's and index. If it's related to that linked FAQ, I'll integrate it there.

thx

Re: Unable to download new tasks

The problem isn't directly related to that FAQ, the problem with Archlinux is that it uses the latest upstream software, and is one of the first to encounter bugs, most of the time they are ironed out during testing, but sometimes they go through unnoticed, most bugs are fixed before mainstream OS users see them though...hopefully laughing .

Although it could be worth mentioning because it is the same software effected its just newer versions, this would document previous problems and could help diagnose new ones in the future. I'll post back here in a few days once I can confirm for sure the problem has been solved.

Re: Unable to download new tasks - On Linux

I was surprised how fast my PC got through most of those WU's, anyway it's another day, another reboot, and WU's are still downloading freely. So I can probably assume it is fixed.

Here's some information that might be useful in the FAQ.

Work units may have problems downloading for users of OpenSSL 1.0.1 and later, if you are effected the following might be of help, here is the Ubuntu bug report . Users who compile their own software will need to compile versions of OpenSSL 1.0.1a and up with the flag (use source 1.0.1a or later for this to work*):

'-DOPENSSL_MAX_TLS1_2_CIPHER_LENGTH=50'

and in addition, I recommend adding:

'-DOPENSSL_NO_TLS1_2_CLIENT'

Ubuntu's OpenSSL now uses these options by default, so configuring and compiling with these two options will help avoid the most common known issues with OpenSSL 1.0.1 and later, in the future this may change, as software changes.

*The initial 1.0.1 release did not include the code that enables the 'cipher length' option, it was added in 1.0.1a, if you wish to see the patch/code that is used, it is here .

I hope this helps.
