Well, guess it's time for some more drastic measures, but since you've not got any work on client it shouldn't really be a problem.

So, do the following in order:
1: Uninstall BOINC.
2: Delete the BOINC-directory from "c:\program files\". Also delete BOINC-directory from "c:\program files (x86)\" (if ever installed the 32-bit client). If you've ever had the WCG-version of BOINC installed, you'll also got a directory called "c:\program files (x86)\Worldcommunitygrid" or something along those lines, delete this directory also if present.
3: Re-name (or delete) the directory called "c:\programdata\boinc".
4: Re-boot computer.
5: Re-install BOINC, and see if it now works. You'll need to re-join WCG after installation.

Hopefully this will fix things for you.

Re: Peer certificate cannot be authenticated with known CA certificates

Interesting, see no mention of this thread started over at Kaspersky's forum by a guy calling himself Nevada Bob http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?s=c637cc...1901905&#entry1901905 on August 29. Interestingly, there is mentioned the issue is with KIS 2013 and 2012 fixing this. I'm puzzled to say the least.

Re: Peer certificate cannot be authenticated with known CA certificates

UGH!!!
Deleted files. Rebooted. Installed BOINC. Still have the same problem.

Yes, I am the same person on the Kaspersky website. Of course. I thought that my beta test of the new version of Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 was related to the problems I was having with WorldCommunityGrid / BOINC. I posted my problems but have been in touch by email with people who were running the same versions of Kaspersky as I and they had no problems running WCGrid. My problems were coincidental to the KIS program and I thought possibly related but are not.

Re: Peer certificate cannot be authenticated with known CA certificates

Tried using World Community Grid 6.10.58 each time removing all files and folders in program files and program data referring to BOINC or WCGrid. Even tried removing all registry entries on one try.
Same result:

Re: Peer certificate cannot be authenticated with known CA certificates

Still can't follow the bit about uninstalling KAV or KIS over at the Kaspersky forum, which allowed continuation of crunching. Was that fact or fiction?

Is there a proxy in the running somewhere. Is it just the one machine, then if you swap router cables is the problem moving to another machine? There's really nothing to go on but to consider that the certificate info is being mangled somewhere on route, and thus WCG refusing the secure connection.

Clone an install [data dir only] from another device that is still working and see if it connects. It could mess up some tasks [not assigned to that device], but we'd eliminate.

I'm running W7-64 and Linux with 7.0.31 and .27 respectively over WIFI... things are fine. Alwil Avast [W7] and ClamAV [Linux] and trusting my Router Firewall/NAS [Linux OS]. It sends me mails occasionally to tell there were "attempts" of breach. Just one FW to administer [never since setup]

Re: Peer certificate cannot be authenticated with known CA certificates

Thanks for investigating my efforts to fix the problem. Is it fact of fiction? Sounds insulting.

Is there a proxy running somewhere? No.
Changing router cables does not fix it.
If the certificate is being mangled then what is mangling it and how do you stop it from being mangled?
There have been no changes made to any router, hardware, cabling etc.
This computer has been running wcgrid fine for 1.5 years. My other computer has been and continues to run wcgrid fine for almost 5 years. My laptop using wifi through the same router is also fine over the past 5 years. The problem is just this one computer.

As I mentioned it appears that the problem is coincidental to my using the new version of Kaspersky Internet Security 2013. Do most computer users do multiple things with their computers, Yes. Does that sometimes make it appear that one thing is causing the problem when it may be another. Did I think it could have been the Kaspersky program, yes I did for a while. Did I think that going back to the Kaspersky 2012 version fixed the problem, yes. But Kaspersky 2012 ran wcgrid fine for a year and a half. Within 1-2 days after Wcgrid running fine under Kaspersky 2012, wcgrid quit working. Which is exactly the same thing that happened using the new Kaspersky 2013 version. With the exact same error messages. It worked fine for 1-2 days and quit. If Kaspersky was causing the problem, then why did both the new and old version quit working after 1-2 days? Is there a relationship between security software and the problem I am having, sure sounds like a possibility. But I cannot figure out what that problem is and thus, I post the problem hoping someone can assist with a solution.

I cloaned the data directory from the working wcgrid computer running wcgrid 6.10.58. The 7.0.31 version I installed on this computer seems to have migrated the directory over just fine. Computer had one task done from the cloaning and two tasks that said "computational error" although they were running fine on the other good computer.

Checking the ca-budle file on the working wcgrid computer shows that the certificate expired in 2009. Why does that computer work with an expired certificate from 2009?

Re: Peer certificate cannot be authenticated with known CA certificates

OK, one more idea. Disable Kaspersky (use another antivirus for a bit) and do a fresh BOINC install. If it works, then you've narrowed it to Kaspersky. If it still destroys the CA certificate, I am out of ideas. Good luck.
Cheers

Just a shot in the dark, and probably not relevant, but make sure your "hosts" file doesn't have a weird entry regarding WCG.
