For those of you who are experiencing the exit status 293 error - we need to get a copy of the client_state.xml file with the information about the result still in the file (i.e. not yet reported back to the server).
In order for us to get this, what we you to do is the following: 1) Modify the cc_config.xml and enable <task_debug>1</task_debug> See http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Client_configuration for details 2) In a few minutes I will add more work for the project 2) Get some of the beta work and watch it run 3) If you see the result error out, immediately go into the BOINC Manager and stop all network communication 4) Check to see if the exit status was 293 (you should see this now because of enabling task_debug) 5) If it was 293, then Send me the client_state.xml file as well as the message log file to knreed@us.ibm.com 6) Re-enable network communication. Thank you everyone for this extensive help. |

How do you stop all network communication?
Suspend project? Abort transfer? Exit BOINC? Disable network card? Pull the plug? |

Go to the activity tab in Boincmgr and click "Suspend Network Activity."

Copy that, knreed. Will do.
----------------------------------------; ; edit1_2012.09.05We.2344.utc ; I missed watching the four(4)_beta-GPU-WU that came in. I did freeze the BOINC network-connection before the doneWUs were cleared off the list at the BOINC Tasks tab. Results of the doneWUs as follows: 3 WUs > Computation error > CPUtime(00:00:01) 1 WU > Ready to Report ; ; edit2_2012.09.05We.2352.utc ; My Win-machine just got a fresh 4-item beta-HCC-GPU-WU package a few minutes ago. I'm now ready and prepared to watch and catch them. Stay tuned... ; ; edit3_2012.09.06Th.0034.utc ; No exit 293 found after crunching the above 4-item beta-HCC-GPU-WU package. I'll continue to be on the hunt. ; ; edit4_2012.09.06Th.0124.utc ; After watching the crunch of 8 more beta-HCC-GPU-WUs on my Win-machine, I still have not found any exit 293 error pop out. Each of the doneWUs were crunched within 4 to 5 minutes (elapsedTime) without an error indication and uploaded successfully. ; ; edit5_2012.09.06Th.0135.utc ; Yet 4 more beta-HCC-GPU-WUs and still no sight of the error 293 on my Win-machine. ; ; edit6_2012.09.06Th.0401.utc ; Got and crunched 1 + 4 more beta-HCC-GPU-WUs but still no sign of the error 293. I parsed the data at my resultsStatus (webpage) and I saw that -- if a WU (my WUs or my wingWUs) is with an 'Error' staus , the error message is exit code 293 (0x125). ; ; edit7_2012.09.06Th.0444.utc ; The coast now seem to be clear . ; [Edit 7 times, last edit by Former Member at Sep 6, 2012 4:44:10 AM] |

Thanks Sgt. Joe. It came just in time, and I caught one.

Jim - thanks for files - they have helped us get a little closer. We now know that the app_version in the client_state.xml file is missing the <coproc> section that describes the resource it is supposed to run on. We are not looking at why that is not getting setting.

I could not get 1 pc with a GTX560ti going (XP sp3 Boinc 7.0.28 forceware 301.42)
Every WU would error as fast as the download. I upgrade to Boinc test 7.0.31 and error stopped |

"We are not looking at why that is not getting setting." There may be a larger picture that needs to be resolved first. As long as the band-aid approach holds up for the moment, the path towards resolving the said larger picture may proceed uninterrupted. Hopefully, the source of error 293 may be found there. Now of course ;>) ; |
