A question for the veterans

I am closing in on my first anniversary with the WCG! The stat I watch most closely is the number of computing years we complete as a community each day. Lately, I've been disheartened to see us rarely getting above 400 years per day. Back in the spring, it seemed that we were regularly completing over 400 years per day. Are lower numbers a typical summertime trend?

yes they are - as people go away on holiday, schools/universities are closed and also people 'throttle back' on their computing power due to heat issues (I don't believe that this is totally counter measured by the southern hemisphere being in the colder/winter months of their year).

I'm sure we'll be seeing over 400 years/day again very soon.

Re: A question for the veterans

i will get more cores once the summer weather ends :) many crunchers turn off the dedicated nodes in summer due to overheating... :(

i believe we will beat the daily crunch time record this winter, as usually 8-)

Re: A question for the veterans

I personally throttle back my CPU's during the summer months by about 30% to compensate for the increased summer heat, will bring them back up by the end of September once my "computer room" cools down

All of this applies to me. And i think it will happen every summer for my situation.
