I just checked my Results Status webpage.
----------------------------------------A] Under Results Status: Error index --------------------------------------------------------------------------- WU* | Status | CPU-time | claimed/granted | notes 1 | Error | 0.48 | 19.4 / 9.7 | (a) 2 | Error | 0.48 |19.8 / 9.9 | (a) 3 | Error | 0.00** | 0.0 / 0.0 | (b) 4 | Error | 0.00** | 0.0 / 0.0 | (b) notes: *CFSW-WU v6.12 under BOINC_v7.0.27 **actually, the WU run for about 150seconds (2.5minutes). (a) No indication of what the error was. The result log appears like any other log for a valid done-WU. (b) process exited with code 255 (0xff, -1) B] Under Results Status: Aborted index --------------------------------------------------------------------------- WU | WUversion| Status | CPU-time | claimed/granted | notes 1 | 612 | Error | 1.16 | 40.1 / 0.0 | (c) 2 | 612 | Error | 1.16 | 40.1 / 0.0 | (c) 3 | 611 | Error | 0.00 | 0.0 / 0.0 | (d) 4 | 612 | Error | 0.00 | 0.0 / 0.0 | (d) 5 | 612 | Error | 0.00 | 0.0 / 0.0 | (d) 6 | 612 | Error | 0.00 | 0.0 / 0.0 | (d) 7 | 612 | Error | 0.00 | 0.0 / 0.0 | (d) 8 | 612 | Error | 0.00 | 0.0 / 0.0 | (d) notes: (c) The result log shows aborted by user (d) No indication of what the error/situation was. All that shows is ... <core_client_version>7.0.27</core_client_version>, or <core_client_version>7.0.28</core_client_version> ... depending on the what BOINC version is installed under the involved machine. My queries: 1] I recall having effected the abortion of two WUs yet my Results Status: User Aborted index shows blank; the two WUs instead shows under the Results Status: Aborted index. What gives? 2a] Except for the two WUs mentioned in #1 above, I do not recall having effected the abortion of any other WUs. So why is there an extra six WUs under the Results Status: Aborted index? What process/machine did those extra six WU abortions? (My Results Status: Server Aborted index also shows blank). 2b] The word Aborted is a rather 'loaded' word. I suggest using the alternative word Cancel. Thus: Cancelled, User-Cancelled, and Server-Cancelled. 3] Why is there no indication in the results log of what the error/situation may have been in crunching the involved WU? Could something be done so that crunchers can clearly distinguish a result log where the involved WU may have had encountered some possible issue(s) (to the extent that it was initially deemed as an error case) compared to the result log of an initially deemed clean/valid doneWU? ; ; edit1_2012.08.29We.2243.utc: ; -- inserted missing detail: ; "(My Results Status: Server Aborted index also shows blank)." ; edit2_2012.08.29We.2306.utc: ; -- re-touched tables ; [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Aug 29, 2012 11:06:08 PM] |

Hi andzgrid,
I think you've forgotten about this thread: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,33492 Which you've also posted replies there too. And I think you've missed Ingleside's explanations here: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewpostinthread?post=386256 |

Hello Moonian
Reference: Moonian [Aug 30, 2012 5:22:16 AM] post Thanks for responding. That is assuming that the symptoms I described above can be traced/attributed to the same bug as discussed in the thread you referred to, '...thread,33492'. There are similarities and differences in the sets of symptoms covered by the respective threads -- a set of symptoms which I'm now assuming, collectively, as part of the complications resulting from the same bug. Hoping now that the said bug be fixed else efforts be made to minimize, if not eliminate, going into scenarios that would lead to the symptoms exhibited by that bug. ; |
