Re: THANK YOU from all the scientists of the HCMD project

I took care care of a child who was dying of this disorder years ago. He was not a relative. He was maybe twelve years old. He was continually in pain, and he knew he wouldn't live very long. I was exhausted and physically miserable too. But I knew that it would be over for me soon, and that I would go on to other things, unlike this boy to whom life had been so unfair.

I wasn't very good at what I was trying to do, and the experience didn't last long. I truly have no bragging rights. But I do have a memory of it that's still vivid 30 years later.

I have thought about that long-ago time during the past three years on this project. I didn't quite make it as far as I wanted, but I was pleased to see myself go over 3000 work units the other day. Not as intense an experience as I had years ago, but it's been low-key and satisfying. You have made us all feel effective, I'm sure. Thank-you.

Re: THANK YOU from all the scientists of the HCMD project

I got know distributed computing 6 months ago. I stopped, but recently I came back. I mined some litecoin and bitcoin but I really wanted to help support another project (mining litecoins also helps there network).
So I joined world community grid a few days ago. I'm going to be looking out for your posts on the update of this project. I am really interested to see the results for this project. It is not only about the 2 years of computing (or 50,000) but also the 4 years of work you have to put in to do the thinking part.
This seems really cool and I can't wait to see what distributed computing was able to accomplish. These succeses is what BOINC is all about.
So even though I just joined worldcommunitygrid I was able to do work units and I finished my first one a few days ago for HCMD.
Good luck! And I can't wait to see the great results.
