If already known server problems were not enough I am seeing a new fanciness since yesterday July 26.
----------------------------------------When there is no work ready for my exclusive-HCMD2 client I am receiving the following messages: Des taches sont disponibles pour votre processeur graphique NVIDIA, mais vos préférences sont réglées pour les refuser. Tasks for AMD/ATI GPU are available, but your preferences are set to not accept them The first message in French says about the same as the second one in English. What is amazing and obviously wrong is that this machine has its video provided by the motherboard (Asus P5K-V) and no video card. And, when starting, BOINC is correctly saying "No usable GPUs found". Client is Ubuntu 11.10 with BOINC 6.12.33. |

Hello JmBoullier
Reference: JmBoullier [Jul 27, 2012 6:23:27 PM] post That since-July26 (2012) 'fanciness' is fancy indeed. Apparently, the 'operational logic' surrounding the GPU-computing operation at WCG needs some polishing. I don't know if the current server situation has anything to do with possibly creating the conditions that may have resulted into that fanciness. ; |

I noticed one of those events a few days ago, too. (Now Wed 1 Aug). In my case, both messages were in english.
----------------------------------------I think it came from my 2600K machine, which has only the integrated GPU for video, runs Xp-64 SP2, and which I access via windoze remote desktop. andzgrid suggests, and I just assumed, that this was part of the server shenanigans. Had simultaneously GPU messages
28-Jul-2012 00:10:01 [World Community Grid] Tasks for NVIDIA GPU are available, but your preferences are set to not accept them 28-Jul-2012 00:10:01 [World Community Grid] Tasks for AMD/ATI GPU are available, but your preferences are set to not accept them but there only being a GPU card [ATI] of my laptop and the Intel 2670QM GPU [in english ;>]... it will have been something kind of at the end of the work query logic... the last ditch port to get something, anything, a level where fetch request would not descend to in normal operation. How probable is it that GPU work is available and none for CPU, at WCG? But, no doubt a lowest priority bug... it's nice to be told the work is phantom there but the prefs [which are set that way], prevented the receipt ![]() |

I have one motherboard with a gpu built into it that CAN crunch, but is soooo slow that I do not, I wonder if WCG is detecting that? This is NOT a built into the cpu gpu, this is a motherboard with a, fancy at the time, gpu built into it. ![]() ![]() |
