http_debug

I have 3 hosts running BOINC. Two of them are having problems no worse than anyone else's, during this server networking issue. The host on which I type this, spent all of today getting "timeout is reached", preventing reporting or downloading of work, though it could usually upload.

I read somewhere here that someone set the http_debug flag in the client config and it helped their problem. wth I tried this, and it worked for me too. When I disable this, I get timeout is reached or internal server error. When I put it back in, there is still noticeable delay compared to the other hosts, but it works.

Why would this be?

Not wanting all the noise in the output log ad infinitum, I'm upping the cache on this host and nursing it through filling its cache, then I'll take the debug flag out for a day and let the work-to-report backlog build. Happy to have a workaround but very puzzled. Will see what happens when the server network is healthy again but meanwhile would appreciate clues from the more knowledgeable users out there.

Re: http_debug

Actually after some more searching, this workaround is taking care of the problem for this one host. I just hope I can remember to take the kludge out of its hosts file later; it's not a good thing to be there indefinitely.

edited to fix link
