The name of the CPU-based CFSW concerned is: cfsw_8957_08957947_
----------------------------------------My Ubu.64.AMD-machine got the '0' copy while wingWU#1, #2, and #3 were valuated as Invalid with wingWU#4, #5, #6, #7, and #8 currently In-progress. In short: four(4)-WUs were valuated as Invalid with five(5)-WUs as In-progress. My copy '0' (also valuated as Invalid) was returned to WCG on 2012.07.21Sa.19:50:16.utc. My Queries: 1] Is the said WU possibly in error? 2] What is the upper-limit for the number of copies sent out to wingMachines? 3] What happens if the said upper-limit is reached and all copies returned to WCG thus-far were each valuated as Invalid? ; ; edit_2012.07.22Su.1823.utc: ; edited the title to something more suitable to the matter at hand. ; [Edit 3 times, last edit by Former Member at Jul 22, 2012 6:23:15 PM] |

Hello andzgrid,
Yes. Practically all projects use algorithms that will report some intermediate result ranges as invalid. The project scientists set the limits inside the code so that those work units will receive special handling of some sort. A few years back, one project had a limit of 8 invalids before it was pulled off the server. I don't know what the limit is for CFSW. Any way, you are right. Your work units will receive special scrutiny. Lawrence |

Thanks for the response, CA Lawrence.
Update on the valuation of cfsw_8957_08957947_ Copy / Status (asOf_2012.07.22Su.1800.utc) 0 (mine) / Invalid 1 (wing) / Invalid 2 (wing) / Invalid 3 (wing) / Invalid 4 (wing) / In-progress 5 (wing) / Server-aborted 6 (wing) / Invalid 7 (wing) / Invalid 8 (wing) / In-progress 9 (wing) / In-progress Summary: Invalid = 6-copies In-progress = 3-copies Server-aborted = 1-copy Total-copies = 10 Yes. Practically all projects use algorithms that will report some intermediate result ranges as invalid. Hmm... We may need to use a different word to express Invalids arising from computer-errors in the execution of WUs as opposed to those Invalids arising from invalid ranges resulting out of correctly computer-executed code. ![]() ; |
