Hi,
I want to run CEP on my work machine and CFCW on my home machine. I wonder if that is possible. I'll be grateful for your help. Regards. |

Hello lgcota,
It certainly is. Look at My Grid - Device Manager - Device Profiles. Create a Work profile and a different Home profile. (More on this later.) SAVE your new profiles. Then select My Grid - Device Manager and for each computer change (selected profile) from Default to Home or Work. Your profile allows you to select many things beside projects. I always recommend changing from Standard Settings to Maximum Output unless you are using a laptop. Standard is designed not to overheat a laptop with poor cooling. Once everything is changed to Max, you can choose Custom Profile, which will allow some customization of the Max settings. Set Leave Application In Memory to ON. The LAIM setting will keep your BOINC work unit in the Virtual Disk file when something else is running. This will prevent the loss of work. Now that we have GB-sized disks, there is no need to crimp on space. A second tip is to set the additional work cache to 0.0 on your Work machine. No need to stuff a corporate computer with gigabytes of extra work units. My home computer is set to communicate in 0.1 days with 0.0 additional work cached. When the internet connection or power is down, my computer probably will be as well. Lawrence |
