error - Unable to open result file

Hello,

Win 7 x64 (autoupdate), BOINC Manger 7.0.28

Have now 2 files with -- >> error - Unable to open result file

All the other WCG projects and some other projects run without problems.
Is this a known problem?

Re: error - Unable to open result file

Hello Bernd Milmert,
This is not a familiar problem to me, so I searched the CEP2 forum for 1 year using Unable AND open for a search term. I found one report which SekeRob answered.

23 Sep 2011 https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/...ead,31784_offset,0#341847

This line is halfway down the post:
[07:27:01] Finished Job #15
Unable to open result file C.27.C21H14N2S2Si2.00582877.3.noopt.bp86.sto6g.n.sp.out
</stderr_txt>

SekeRob points to this line near the start of the post:
[08:59:22] Starting job 2,CPU time has been restored to 621.554784.
12:35:31 (8988): No heartbeat from core client for 30 sec - exiting
No heartbeat: Exiting

Maybe I should run a more general search, but I hope that this might at least be a useful hint.

smile Apparently this is not a common problem.

Got this also... - on an Xubuntu Precise, so it is not a Windows only problem!

At sunday night, the PC runs also the Backup, so this might be the problem from my machine:

Re: error - Unable to open result file

Hello LAZA74,

idea After years of running CEP2, multiple instances of a new error suddenly appear on different machines running both Windows and Linux when there is no change to the program. But all instances are running a new BOINC 7.0.27 or 7.0.28 client.

biggrin Congratulations. Looks like a problem to report to BOINC developers at https://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_forum.php?id=10

Re: error - Unable to open result file

Running here the 1 a day on version 7.0.31 alpha **, W7-64, 8 cores concurrent with CFSW & SN2S & DSFL. No issues. The ambient would be good to know... how many concurrent, on how many cores maximum?

** It's the new formal testing client put through it's paces for a potential Berkeley [*not* WCG] recommendation. WCG as eluded will start on testing/assessing/auditing a stable 7.0.x client, when considered stable. New dev versions still are coming out of the developer spout for 7.0.

Re: error - Unable to open result file

Win 7, x64, 2 core E8400

I'm not sure if the problem is solved, but I have seen a white message box with an
initialisation failled error 0xc0000142 at the desktop, and the same error in BOINC.

I did 2 things at the same time maybe a littlebit wrong, update to BOINC 7.0.28 and I installed the program prozess lasso.

So, now I unistalled the Prozess lasso PGM and shutdown reboot, and installed it again.

The initialisation failed message is gone, and the I have today a 'valid' CEP2 result.

I will take a closer look to CEP2 results next weeks.
